So I have the feeling the dealer updated my nav system

Not that I'm complaining mind you! But things are definitely different, just enough to mess with my head For example, with the arrow navigation turned on in the split screen, the gal now says "where possible, make a legal U-Turn." Before my service last week, she said "make a U-turn if possible." Also she would say, "turn right in 600 feet....now turn right." Now she just says "turn right." I also see a keypad dialing function on the phone portion. I wish I knew for sure if I was upgraded, though I suppose I could ask the SA. Anyone have any ideas about the older nav software vs. the new and what identifying factors I can look for to definitively know whether I am/ was upgraded to the latest version? TIA.

The original nav software would allow you to import a route from a USB stick. That option is gone with the current software. With the new software it was replaced with the ability to add intermediate stops after you select a destination.

Ahh ok... where can I check the latter option? Do you have the latest one? Does she say the things I mentioned? I know something changed

I also noticed some differences after my service a few weeks ago. The major one that I am most interested in is the the Google search feature under the POI section in the map menu. Does anyone have any idea how to use this? Does it cost additional Money?? It acts like it is trying to connect and then displays a message something like "cannot connect at this time".

Thanks,
Chris

You can subscribe to the service for about $200/year. You also get CNN Headline News and weather.

Do you know of anybody that has payed for the $200 service? Sounds cool, but not sure if it worth the money.

I do and it is worth to me as I check for local gas prices and weather, do Google Search frequently and send my location by email to friends and family from the iDrive.

I wonder WTH happened then. I too have the concierge service, and my google search is greyed out?

I have it too. I don't think it is necessarily a good buy, and see it primarily as a nice frill or luxury.

I rarely use the google search feature since the Idrive search works great in my area (I live in well-mapped area where and the Idrive POI database is very complete here). I use the weather and stock stuff sometimes but you can get the same data on the typical smartphone.

I like having somebody to upload addresses. If I'm on the way somewhere, I can have an operator do that while I stay focused on the road.

It is possible you were updated from a pre 2.37 software version. You can check if your nav was updated by going to Navigation System Version in the nav options menu. Let us know what version you have.
