Anyone dyno a 335i not running boost
I installed the procede a threw a CEL a couple of times. It reduces the power by what seems like shutting off the turbos. It got me thinking, has anyone dyno'd the car when NOT under boost?

Yes it shuts off the turbo (in a way) by keeping the wastegate open so the turbo does not make any boost at all.. AKA Limp Mode.

^ Yes, that is correct. I was going to hit my head into the keyboard when I read "shut off the turbos" like they were on a toggle switch or something.

Oddly enough, I reported the CEL to the dealer when bringing it in for service for an unrelated issue and they said that their computer(s) showed no logged codes. I have been noticing erratic idling and had issues with starting the car a couple of times, where the engine turns over more than usual. I am thinking that I could possibly be suffering from the notorious fuel pump issue. Could my CEL have been throw by that, by any chance?

Without boost, shouldn't it be really close to 225 HP (engine) or ~190 WHP, since it's the old 330i block rated at 225 HP, 214 lb-ft torque?
Anyone have a pointer to the list of changes from the old block to the new one? Hmmm I guess I should search for that one. ![]() |

Wow... That Honda Accord-esque! I'm surprised it's so low. Any clue why some cars need lower boost targets than others? If it's a semi-regular issue, why not just slightly decrease the boost targets for everyone? Does it change performance that much that you would like to deal with those that have to download different maps? Just curious.
