The value of Dinan is that items are warranted through them. If you go start putting non Dinan parts on your car and kill your warranty what was the point of paying the extra money for Dinan?

+1 for the above... I "think" (no expert here) Dinan warranty states that if you don't buy dinan products, your warranty goes out the window... SO better start buying nothing but Dinan, otherwise your warranty goes bye-bye... (Not trying to be snide about it, but it's the truth). Your BMW warranty went bye-bye the minute you got Dinan anyway (although you are now covered by Dinan). But it is what it is...

I would go with a nice set of DP's next. IMO, continuing to spend the cash on Dinan parts are a complete waste of money unless you have that type of dough.

^ I respectfully disagree. Downpipes, especially the ones without catalytic converters, can be problematic - it's illegal to remove them in most states, it makes the exhaust smell, and the oxygen sensors go off-kilter due to the absence of the cats, requiring some sort of compensation gadgets. You can get catted downpipes, but unless you're planning on racing, I wouldn't do it. Dealers will spot them immediately and you'll lose any warranty coverage on your engine.

That said, Dinan's oil cooler and intercooler (required for S3 software) are pricey, as is their exhaust. I'm planning on going with the BMW Performance exhaust which is less expensive and can also be purchased at a discount from Tischer or at the same price from your own dealer if they'll match Tischer's price.

I have an AFE intake and I like it, but it gets dirty really fast - the high velocity airflow dries out the oiled cotton pretty quick, too. Dinan's airbox is superb, but very pricey. This one's up to you - price vs. performance. Nothing wrong with a drop-in K&N filter element and eliminating the charcoal filter if your airbox has one.

Beyond that, it's all up to what you want to do - Dinan SW is designed around mostly stock parts so that it won't push the envelope too hard and cause any damage. There are lots of mods out there, but aftermarket intercoolers, intakes, and a larger-diameter cat-back exhaust system (as opposed to just mufflers) will give you the biggest gains. Be careful of systems without a crossover pipe and/or deleted resonators, as you'll get some serious "drone" on the highway which is very unpleasant. Good luck!
