Hit a massive pothole and tire was leaking severely, but TIRE SENSOR did not activate
Does anyone know why my dashboard did not show low pressure? I am not running the run flat tires, just high performance bf goodrich tires.
Thanks |

Pretty sure your 06 325i doesn't have sensors (TPMS), just FTM.

Ohh! Thanks for the heads up. It's weird because when I get new tires, it asks to reset the system.
The FTM didn't kick in even when my tire was completely flat and I was rolling to the side of the street. |

I had the same problem, asked the same question on the forums and didn't get a response. I only knew because the car was pulling severely to the left on the highway. I went about 40km on a flat tire.
I spoke to the BMW tech. They said that the system requires a certain number of iterations before the system alerts you, which is allowed to slowly calculate because of the slow release from RFT's. I called bullshit since the tire was COMPLETELY flat, I argued the system can't tell a catastrophic failure? What a shitty system. I guess thats why TPMS is a much better system, besides the weight. I still don't quite believe it, but I don't have a better answer either. |

![]() This is the very reason that the TREAD act requires active sensors rather than the passive FTM that the OP has on his '06 |

oops -- missed the '06 part. Right you are! But there HAVE been reports about sensor-equipped cars not registering low pressure, as well.
