I'm not really happy with the billet aluminum adapter and metal elbow that interfaces with the PCV check valve, but I haven't found a suitable replacement for it yet. It necks down a good bit and can leak over time, dribbling oil down the back of the engine.

If you get a chance when installing, be sure to wipe any oil residue from the inside of the PCV check valve with a towel. You want a clean, dry surface for the adapter to mate with, allowing the O-rings to seal up with the inner plastic tube.

I also found it's helpful to apply a little teflon tape or pipe dope to the metal elbow before screwing it into the black billet adapter. This allows the elbow to tighten easily into the adapter and prevents oil from seeping through the threads.

What does the inside of the can look like?
What is going on to catch the oil?

Not really sure. I should have looked into that before I bought it.

I am getting the same blow by past the orings and down my engine. It's a pretty sub par design for the price we paid for these things. I am just going to use rubber tubing coming from the check valve to a new 180 degree fitting and clamp it all down with hose clamps. I think this would stop the leaks since you are wrapping a hose around the pcv valve instead of sticking something in the pcv valve. It doesn't make sense to stick something in an outlet (well that's what my gf says...). I think there should be hose wrapped around the pcv outlet and not something in it....

I agree with this, let me know what hose/coupler you end up using. I thought those billet pieces were pretty awkward and restrictive when I installed mine.

I agree with regard to the PCV interface. I found a smaller section of 5/8 heater hose that would fit over the PCV valve fitting and attempted to use a 90-degree elbow, but that still didn't provide enough room ahead of the firewall for the hose to wrap around. A 180-degree fitting might work better, especially if you find one with an ID big enough to interface directly with the PCV check valve. What is that PCV outlet diameter, 3/4"?

Yes they are very restrictive. Just look at the inner diameter of this little piece.
It fits into the check valve which have a inner diameter of 16 mm, so I'm assuming that the inner diameter of this little piece is ~12 mm (even smaller than 1/2", which is 12.7 mm):

I am a BSH customer myself and I've been using their BSH catch can for close to 1 year now. I honestly have some serious doubts about the effectiveness of their product. Here are my observations and thoughts:

* Since the day I installed it (close to 1 year ago), I've never had to empty it. The dipstick on it started registering just 1-2 months ago and it is at the very very bottom of the dipstick. So far, the oil level on the dipstick has not risen a single millimeter!

* The BSH unit is designed to sit on the hot side of the engine, right above the hot turbo manifolds. In my opinion this is VERY poor choice of location because: a) The oil vapors will have hard time condensing and b) any condensed liquid will be heated to such levels that it will evaporate right away and re-introduce oil fumes back into the intake.

Now that the weather has warmed up, I will try to disconnect the BSH outlet tube and see if it is oily. If it is indeed oily, then clearly OCC is not doing its job.

Please let us know your findings and post pics. I am collecting small amounts of blow-by on my BSH can... however I only had it on for 2k miles.

Its a perforated metal baffle positioned vertically in the middle of the can..that runs almost 3/4 of the way down the can

It seems there are a lot of mixed results with oil catch cans. All cars don't seem to be the same. I have had no issues with my BSH OCC, but I can only speak to my personal experience.

Do you catch much oil with it?

I do have more than I did in my Riss catch can. I don't put the kind of miles on my car that many of you do though.

Otherwise, quality stuff...I just have a tiny bit of oil touching my dipstick after several months. Guess I don't get much blow-by...or the can isn't working..haha...
So mount it somewhere else? Come on be creative... get longer hoses from autozone (bring yours in, walk and tell them i need longer ones).. then mount it on the other side of the engine or make your own bracket.

I just sent them an E-mail with links to this thread and the **********s one too.
Let see if they responde.
Not sure why they wouldn't have the screen go across the can and up/down the can???
