Just got a call from my wife...
Apparently a huge rock came out of nowhere and put a big crack in the windshield....the ONE day she drives my car
Oh well...too bad there isn't a badass aftermarket windshield that improves 0-60 times that I could upgrade too..lol Anyone have any recommendations for windshield repair in the NOVA area? My car is going in for some warranty work on Wednesday, should I just get them to replace it? Thanks in advance! Anyone have any interesting "my wife/GF/significant other" called me and said...type stories?

Sorry to hear about the windshield. I had a golf ball destroy mine one time. Can't remember who I used but they came to my house and hooked it up. I have heard to stay away from safelite, but I have never used them so I can't say why.
My wife called me one time to tell me that she burned down the duck. I said "duck?!?!" When I got home I found out that duck = deck. She had thrown a cig butt in a bucket of other butts that caught fire and burned a small portion of the deck. Thank god she put it out in time. |

We use "That Glass Place." (Yes, that's the name.) I think they're in Woodbridge and Alexandria.
Tell them I referred you. Any kind of significant crack will mean full windshield replacement. --Dan Mach V |

Does anyone use OEM glass for replacements? Thanks Dan, I'm calling my insurance co. tomorrow and I'll definitely call the place you recommended. I've heard mixed things about Safelite (which is what USAA uses/recommends) but more reviews/comments were negative.
Significant enough for replacement?

Wife drove my car once in 3 1/2 years, with no issues.
Sometimes things happen, but put BMW glass back in. Then keep your keys to yourself. |

My Safelite experience was awesome. The tech was knowledgeable, told me about the glass brand, etc. No additional wind noise or leaks, and have had it for 2-3 months so far.
Also, I was telling him I was thinking of wrapping my roof in vinyl, so he placed a tape spacer under the top seal so I could slip the vinyl edge under easily and seal. Thought that was pretty cool for a windshield mill type company.

Driving home from Providence Place Mall and windshield was hit by a rock and cracked. I'm in the same boat, except I was the one driving. Now the fun begins of letting my insurance company know and the hassle of getting it in to be fixed. Grr. Good luck with your ride, I guess we can be grateful it's just a crack in the windshield and not a key to the door panels!
