E90 335i - North America Spec Adaptive Xenons
Hello Everyone,
I am purchasing a 2011 Canadian Spec E90 335i, and will run the car for a year on a MOT exemption with the possibility that I will be exporting it in 2012. If I do indeed stay in the UK for another year past that (2013), I am wondering if the adaptive xenon's (Option 522+524) can be reprogrammed or re-pointed to meet UK legal requirements, or if I will require new headlamps. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. Last edited by Madhouse; 05-24-2011 at 03:39 PM.. |

I think you just have to remove the "lid" and turn a lever inside housing. Not sure. Check the manual. |

The switch is deleted now (which only existed on xenons anyway) but the lights can be coded by the dealer to work on the other side of the road.

Thanks for the info. Now to find a dealer that will do it for me.
On a similar vein, anyone had experience with Park Lane Diplomatic Sales? Do they have a technical department that knows how to do this. I can tell you that their sales department has no idea on if this could be done or not. |

That's quite interesting actually. You can use LHD headlights in the UK at the flick of a switch?

Apparently not with newer models. Has anyone had any luck with a dealer reprogramming the adaptive xenons?

Well, I've gotten an answer from Wood BMW in Salisbury (thanks Nigel!). There is a switch on the '11 335i Adaptive Xenons, but it requires that the front wheels, arch insulation be taken off on order to access it. At least I won't have to spend £2000 to pass a MOT!
On a similar note, the euro headlight switch will enable the rear fog lights as well (not originally available on Canadian spec!) with no coding required.
