Did Dealer change my VANOS? (picture attached)
So I've had the VANOS outlet codes ever since I got the car and they always performed an update and it went away till i put the JB+ on and always came back. Yesterday when I picked it up from the dealer they said they finally changed both VANOS solenoids but when reading the attached invoice it doesn't really say they changed it? It mentions they changed the oil (which was free btw) which is a protocol when changing the Solenoids so I'm guessing they did but not sure why it doesn't say on my invoice?
On a side note the car is running REALLY strong! Like stock right now it feels like I have the JB+ at 100% from before in there. Much faster than what it was before, can't wait to put the JB+/DCI back on and see how it feels |

But why would they do a oil change when I didn't need one? They do oil changes after VANOS replacements because of the metal shavings getting in your oil...

This. The test advises them on the service to perform. In this case, the test concluded an oil change would fix the issue.

If the the issue comes back, then they will change the solonied for either the intake or exhaust.

The solenoids look like an easy replacement per the Bentley manual. You could always DIY if you want them.
If you can get the code to come up one more time, they will probably do it under warranty. |

It took 3 trips before they would replace my solenoid , but it sounds like you've already been back that many times.

Did your car run better after they replaced it? Mine's running the best it has been since the oil change haha. Terry said they might have changed it but its not in the invoice....

Bmw has a specific protocol for the solenoid error code. I believe the first step is an oil change, and then they check for codes again. If the code is gone then that's all that was needed, but if it still throws the code then they move forward towards a solenoid replacement. I'm not sure if there's another intermediate step.
My car kept giving codes until they replaced the solenoid, so mine was done in one trip. But Im sure it's fine.
