performance grills or black aftermarket painted?

Hello, I just wanted someones option about the quality of the OEM performance grills compared to a aftermarket pair of painted gloss black grills like from EAS or mod bargains.

The price is only slightly higher for the OEM performance grills, so im leaning that direction but wanted a few members insight on the quality of both.

Thanks Travis

I recently ordered some Gloss Black grills for my '11 E92 from **********s, and what I received were actual OEM BMW grills. You can also get the OEM ones from Tischer. Easy install.

I plastidip mine, for $5.88, it turns out ok. If you're a pro spray painter, it'll turn out awesome.

There's no significant difference and if you don't like the repro's most if not all vendors will take them back. On the other hand, if price doesn't matter, then go OEM and be done with it.

I bought my OEM gloss black Performance grilles from a BMW dealer (Morristown BMW) who sold them on Ebay for $95.00.

First set i got were not oem because they didnt make them in gloss at the time. They started to chip and flake awaya fter about 8 months. The place took stock grills and just painted them( and as we all know paint does not stick to chrome or similar finishes very well unless prepped properly). After touching them up on a weekly basis I got tired of it and it looked like hell so I went with OEM. Save the time and money, go with oem or someone that offers oem rather than a secondary paint job.

We do have both the aftermarket matte black kidney grills and the OEM BMW performance gloss black kidney grills for you guys to choose from. It honestly comes down to personal choice and what you're looking to do to the car. For example, if you guys have the M-sport package, the window trims should be gloss black. Most guys like to match it all up when it comes down to it. Either way, here's a comparison shot for you to check out!
