There was not a second in the fight when he was in trouble. I cant say the same for Shields.

If you are going to fight the champion and expect to de-thrown him by decision, you better beat the ever living shit out of him to upset those odds. Shields was kept at bay the whole time, I dont think he had a single takedown.... fail for Shields! GSP's game plan was executed perfectly, hence the win.

This fight wasnt designed to KO someone or even submit someone (unless Shields got him on the ground)... it was designed to take two combatants that are extremely technical in their form of art (GSP - Technical striker and excellent ground and pound vs Jake - wrestling and submission) and let them execute a game plan. The one with the better training and had more heart was going to win this fight. This goes to show that GSP is a more well rounded fighter at the end of the day.

What no one told Shields was that defense is just as important and sometimes more important than offense.
GSP defended Shields's at his best offensive maneuvers, Shields was unable to defend against GSP's.

you honestly can tell me you would pay to see GSP fight like that over and over again?!? it was BY FAR the worst fight on that card....... Not good for the MAIN EVENT.... i said GSP would win this fight as well BUT didnt think it was going to be that boring...

Great fighter -- not a good show though...

if your happy paying 55 to watch that as the main event theres something wrong with you....

Not every fight is going to be loaded with action, KO's, & blood, it takes two really good fighters in their art form to not take punishment. This would conclude that they are both fantastic well rounded fighters. GSP just got the best of him that is all. Just because it was a less than action packed fight doesnt mean GSP should lose the fight.

Everyone compares GSP to Silva.. why, because he IS a champion. They know how to win fights and there training is 2nd to none.
