How to log COBB?
I want to log my COBB AP 93 2.02 map today after work, however I have no Idea how to do it!
The logs people are using to show throttle response and throttle cut backs, what option is that under? I know I plug in my unit, go Log, then it asks for Boost, Timing, Map, MAv ETC. Just let me know how I should log this thing and I can throw up numbers tonight. I love 93 octane to death, however if it looks like it is to dangerous for my car since I only have an AFE DCI I will switch back to 91 octane... I still want to show you guys how it looks on my car to see if there are issues. I'm at work, I dont have time to do major research so I figured I'd ask quick so I can review quickly and set her up right after work! Thanks againg Guys! |

Its pretty easy. On the AP screen you should just check off every log-able box since it doesn't hurt to have more info.
You should do do logs in 2nd or 3rd gear flooring it all the way to redline. I like to keep each pull as separate logs but thats just me.

Ugh.. I'll have to look when I get home, my computer system blocks the video website.
I don't believe I was given an option to check off the box's? I'll watch the video and graph this weekend. I came across another thread where COBB assured us that 93 octane was safe to run with out supporting mods. So far the engine sounds very clean, no pings or nocks.. If anything I may still divert to 91 octane as my MPG increases by about 3 and 91 octane is cheaper to buy, it is also more convenient as there are several more gas station locations... We shall see |

First, u will likely never here this engine audible ping, with or with out Cobb, the ecu will prevent any type of detonation that severe. It's incredible responsive to this. Second, for the price, run 93 and drive differently. Nothing has more effect on how much mpg u get then how you drive.

For safety, run higher octane gas, on the lower octane map.

I just checked out the video, I may do some data logs tonight before I head out. I really want to know if I can safely run the 93 octane tune on Husky/Mowhawk 94 octane Fuel.
I did an hour worth of research on the fuel alone and I didn't get anything conclusive.. Some people say the 10% ethenol mix will blow up a 335i engine... Others say it is the best fuel in town, others say its ghetto fuel and 91 octane Shell V-power is the best.. Not sure what to believe but a Datalog will show! I drove identical btw between 91 and 93. My commute to work is 40Km of 130K highway driving to work, and the same back from work. I noticed a 3mpg decrease using cruise control on the highway and a 5mpg decrease in the city on the 93 octane tune with 94 octane with 10% ethanol mix... |

Tons of people have been running the 93 map for months now without issues. I don't think you need to worry too much but logging will let you know 100% for sure.
I wish we still had 94 octane gas. Sunoco use to sell it in the east coast but not anymore. Alan

Okay, I just spent an hour tonight doing several logs!
I loged 3 solid pulls with the 93 octane map, ran 3 solid pulls with the 91 octane map. Now I have to figure out how to upload these using my mac... Problem is, I have NO Idea which log is which!? I also did several 0 - 60 times with 93 octane, and 0 - 60 times with 91 octane, as well as Quarter mile times for both. Any way to upload those to my computer? I did not view them, I just exited and tried again thinking I could upload and view the performance numbers on my computer later!? |

Vader sent me his logs. He had 7 pulls logged. 3 with 93 oct and 4 at 91oct maps.
Two of the 93 oct maps showed a drop in timing and one was clearn. All four of the 91 oct maps were clear. Here are two of the 93s and 2 of the 91s. Boost runs around 16ish psi tapering on the 93 and the 91 maps is 1 or 2 lower. What fuel brand and oct fuel were these at vadar? |

and your intake temps were crazy high on both maps, 80ish delta between outside temps on the 91 map and 90ish on the 93 map. An intercooler would ensure no timing drops on the 93 map. For comparision, my delta temp on 100% stock car after 120mph runs were in the high 30s.

Thanks so much for logging those!!
I was running Husky/Mowhawk 94 octane. Should I be concerned about the timing drops or nocking? Or will this map be safe to run as I don't track my car and usually drive rather normal? If it may cause my engine to go boom down the road I'll have to switch back to the 91 map. - Just to give you guys a heads up I ran with BigUp again today! First I used 93V2.02 against his JB4 map 1. Previously when I ran with him using 91V2.02 we were neck and neck, this time around with the COBB 93 octane map I pulled like crazy! from 80 - 140 I would consistently pull about 1 and a half car lengths ahead! He then switched to JB4 stage 2 map. From 60 - 130 we would stay neck and neck, however once we hit 140 I hauled like a train! From 140 - 160 I already pulled over a car length ahead of him! It seemed like his top end slowed down at about 140 yet 93 cobb kept on ticking!! I do have an octane booster now, although I have not logged it.. It was tested heavily by BMW enthusiasts and shows it truly does boost octane to 97, however at 12 bucks a pop I find it two expensive for daily driving.. I want to be able to safely run 93 octane map with husky gas and 10% ethenol blend or I'm switching back to 91... Thoughts guys? |

I do!
Up until those runs I was using Shell V-power 91 octane with my 91 octane map. It felt smooth and ran great. I filled up with Husky 94 in order to try out the 93 octane map. I'm going to switch back to 91 octane and shell V-power to be safe.. It is a little depressing because honestly the difference in pull was outstanding when running 93 and I'm going to miss it dearly Just want to confirm, IF I get an FMIC and DP I can SAFELY run 93 all day long with husky 94? |

Does the shell offer 93?
Honestly, if you ran the 93 map with the 94 octane, odds are the ecu will just adjust timing similar to how the jb3 works and in the long run you will be fine. You only had one timing drop. Ideally, you want a map that wont have any timing drops, but with intake temps near 100 degrees over ambient, you're going to heatsoak pretty bad and performance will suffer. |

Shell doesn't offer 93 octane.
Even with COBB The ECU Will adjust timing? I'm amazed the intake temps were that high! Not once did the heat monitor in the dash display go over 120 degrees |
