I have the car in for repainting bumpers and sideskirts. But my friend who does the job is having major problems finding the right shade of red! He has done 10 colortests and no one is good enough, when he made an analyse of the fuel "lid" a VW color came up witch was the best match so far, but no! Has anyone here done the same thing and what paint supplier did you use? It has gone over i month now so I´m getting

Get somebody who knows how to work with color tints, red is a difficult color to replicate specially if it's a little faded by sunlight or try to get oem paint from a BMW shop or dealer, by the way, are you the first owner of the car?

I´m the second owner but I´m pretty sure it´s not repainted, but it has crossed my mind. He tried OEM color but no match. The car is not parked outside in the sunlight much, only when I am at work during the summertime.

i just dropped my bumper off for paint, they took paint samples with some computer/camera thing to make sure the paint matches 100%

the guy said they

1. check the color code under the hood (a22)
2. take the paint samples using the computer/camera thing
3. enter the information in their program and it mixes the the paint using the paint code and i guess the fade over time (measurements from the computer/camera thing)
4. the machine mixes the paint so it matches the paint of the car

if you want your car back, take it to a good shop.

Get a fresh batch of Crimson Red from BMW and paint the whole car.
