I use these in my car(s) at least 3 times a year anyways. it's nice because it completely neutralizes odors, and works EXTREMELY well.. So well .. that i actually use them in my house too twice a year LMAO ..

Set it & forget it .

Ive used this in my Z a few years back, definitely works for the interior. I used to just spray a little here and there as needed, as using the whole can is sorta overkill for such a small cubic spaced area. Good stuff though.

Skunk
Chemically it’s an organic chemical containing sulfhydryl (a mixture of sulfur-containing chemicals such as methyl and butyl thiols traditionally called mercaptans), which are not water soluble.

To eliminate them and the odours they produce solubilise it (i.e. raise the pH from an acid to an alkaline) with an alkaline wash solution at which point it will become soluble and wash away. Due to the chemical composition of the skunk spray, most household remedies are ineffective, with the exception of a peroxide formula or other remedies that break down the thiols.

FWIW- washing the car with a tomato sauce to rid the smell of skunk is a myth, but boy does it amuse the neighbours

Never tried to neutralize skunk but it has worked with damp musty odors and smoke, fill a couple of socks with arm and hammer .....let them sit in the car for about 24 hours.......good luck

I went straight to a car wash with a DIY heated pressure washer, because as soon as I hit it, it immediately stunk up the car. I washed all underneath the car and wheel wells on soap mode for 5-10 min then finished with a rinse. I then drove around for 15-30 min and it cleared the smell right up. I guess the key was to get it while it was still fresh.

simple solution for skunk: soap and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).

like one of the previous posts, a lot of the skunk compounds are not water soluble, so you'll need the soap to break it up. The odor mainly comes from a hydrogen sulfide (HS) compound; all you need to do to eliminate that is to have the H2O2 oxidize the HS.

I've never tried this on a car, so I'm not sure what it might do to your paint finish... I'd suggest mixing up a very weak solution of these, and repeat as needed if it doesn't get rid of the odor in one treatment. goodluck!

Hydrogen peroxide has a pH 6.0 (diluted 1:1 approx pH 4.0) a weak acid, so do not allow to remain on rubber or vinyl and rise from paint work thoroughly.

But as stated you would be better off using an alkaline (i.e. raise the pH from an acid to an alkaline) with an alkaline wash solution at which point it will become more soluble and wash away. Mix a 1/4 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) with an alkaline car wash concentrate or acid neutralization wash -ValuGuard.
