HELP? JB+ Check Engine Light - BT Scanner?
I have a 2009 335xi and for the past 4 months have had a JB+ installed on it with no problems at all - no codes, no warnings, lights, etc... I have it set at default (50%).
Yesterday I started it up and immediately a engine malfunction warning came on (reduced power, etc..) in the iDrive, with the yellow half-engine warning light in the dash as well. I immediately turned off the car, and restarted it (letting it sit for about 2 seconds in between) the light turned off and everything returned to normal. The car did not sound, or feel any different when the warning was on (granted I was only in my driveway). After driving it once I restarted the car everything felt normal - there was definitely no power loss at all. Do you think this could be caused by the JB+ and am I throwing a code? I am going to bring it into the dealer for service in 2 weeks anyhow. Does anyone have a BT scanner they would be willing to scan my car with? I will provide a cash payment as you see fit..(given that you purchased the scanner)..for this favor, before I bring it in. I can come to you... Thanks for the help |

You need a scan. It could be your HPFP going. Either way, it's too risky to go into the dealer without a scan if you have/had a tune installed. Get a scan first, then go to the dealer. The scan might also save you the trip of going to the dealer if the JB+ triggered the code.

i have the same issue with my JB+ on 2007 BMW 335i. The check engine light goes off automatically on restarting the car again. There were no error codes that were being on after installing the JB+ and the car ran fine for like 7 months with the JB+.
I have now removed the JB+ and taking the car to BMW dealership for a check. May be its the FP but the FP has been replaced 2 times under warranty now so am not sure. How did you fix yours? |

That's odd. I've had my jb+ in for a few months and never had a problem. I have it set lower than default though, about 35%.

i had mine one set at default for 3 months and just recently took it off last weekend to bring in the car for service.. i just put it back on yesterday and cranked it to 75%. I'll keep u updated or will let u know if something acts ups. I had that check engine light come up before and then it goes away..i brought the car in for service and it was the fuel pump..i think the jb+ is not a strong enough tune to throw of codes..imo
