80 in a 50

back in March I got a ticket by NYPD doing 80 in a 50 on I95 heading towards the Throgs Neck Bridge in the BX. I plead not guilty and my court date is in August.. 20 plus years with a drivers license and this is my first moving violation. DO I need a lawyer? and if I do how much is it going to cost me ? and can someone recommend someone if need be?

You definitely need a lawyer if you want to try and beat the ticket. Of course 50/50! If you are going to go to court on your own, you probably have a 5% chance beating the ticket yourself.

if you hire a lawyer, most likely youll still have to pay for the fine however he or she will rid of the points most likely for you....which is pretty good for insurance reasons too

as far as lawyers, if you goto the dmv building in whitestone, theres a bunch of em in the same building, just ask one of em and they will charge you anywhere from 150~200

True, but not always will they be able to get rid of the points.

but make sure to negotiate with them, they don't want to lose a customer to another lawyer.
