Warrenty Issues with an Intake

So I was curious if anyone has ever had any issues with their intake voiding their warrenty. I understand that they have to prove that the intake would have been the cause of the problem...but I mean would they be able to prove that. Can an intake cause problems with the car?

If you have any issue with the engine it could potentially void the warranty. My SA/dealership is fairly strickt when it comes to intakes, however they don't care about the exhaust or intercooler. Take the 15 min and revert back to stock before you go in, that's your best insurance.

my SA said take it off. He knows my car is moded, but he is not the only one in the shop when my car comes in and you never know when a BMW rep will be visiting. For a 30 min max removal time it just isn't worth the risk in my opinion.

If you have a close relationship with your SA/Tech you shouldn't have a problem. However, if you don't I would recommend taking it off just to be on the safe side. Even if something did happen to your car while the intake is installed, it would be hard for BMW to prove that the intake caused anything at all since there is no MAF sensor.

When in doubt, take it out.

I would ask your SA and see what his reaction is, then go from there.

If you're not sure, take it off.

Its not so much about the intake.
Its that if you have an intake you probably have other mods too.
It gets them suspicious. I would just rather take everything off.

And no most dealers wont do anything because of an intake. But they could, which is enough reason to take it out. Better safe than sorry.
It takes 20min tops to remove a DCI

Well, I guess it all depends on the dealer, and people who work there. I know my dealership is fine with aftermarket intakes and exhausts. My car passed the CPO warrany inspection with the afe dci, and remus axle back without any problems. I wanted to take it off for the inspecion, but was told not to.

What stealership do you take yours to? They are cool about the FMIC? Weatherford in Berkeley is not down with the FMIC.

technically your car would not be able to be cpo'd by a bmw dealer if you traded it with the above listed mods..
