No Mr. Rob Beck is replacing mine I'm out of warranty so it's perfect timing. I'm only guessing about the OCC, I'm thinking it had more to do with crankcase pressure vs. collecting oil....either way the smoking stopped (occ related or not).

By any chance did you check the oil level when you first got it? If it was slightly less than full, I would say you probably don't have anything to worry about. I can't speak for everyone's car, but I can tell you mine burns a quart about every 7000 miles or so, and I don't have any leaks or blown seals. Its been that way since I bought the car in '08. I have not had noticeable smoke though ever. I have had condensation coming from the exhaust, but nothing I would consider smoke (except during WOT). Since you are still covered under warranty though, you might as well take it to the dealer for peace of mind. If you notice you are going through oil faster than 1 quart in 5-7000 miles, the car is smoking consistently during different operating conditions, or find oil residue anywhere in your underbody panel then I would think you may have a problem.

One thing to check for a possible common leak is your oil thermostat housing. If you shine a light on the front of your motor (where the belts are, behind the fan housing) and see any oil residue running down the front of the motor and possible collecting in the underbody panel, then more than likely that gasket is wore out and leaking. If that area is clean, then you are good at least in respect to the thermostat housing.

Can you describe more as to when you notice the smoke? I.e. engine warm/cold, only in the morning on first start, all the time while driving, etc. If you are only getting smoke out of one tail pipe, and your exhaust is divided, then you have an issue, as someone else already mentioned.

My car tells me to add a quart around every 6-7k miles too.

So I checked again with a friend revving it and smoke comes out of both pipes. It's bluish smoke. I am pretty sure it smokes when it's cold and warm. Def when it's warm. It smells like oil. Engine was full w oil then after 5k had to add a quart. I just noticed the smell and smoke 2 days ago. Catless dp were installed about a month ago.

But why is my exhaust smoking and why do I smell burning oil? Due to oil leaking into intake to turbos? Occ fix? Or wategate issue? Turbo issues?

+1 this is not something to be taken lightly..see if the smoke comin out of the pipes lingers in the air..thats a sign it could be oil..u should not be having to add a quart of oil in between oil changes n an OCC is not the answer if you are in fact burning oil

If you aren't driving like a grandma, or tons of FWY mileage. A quart every 5000 miles is perfectly normal.

Burning oil is normally blown turbos. Outside chance it's a clogged PCV system. If the car is smoking badly and also has misfiring and codes at idle and barely runs then it may be an internal motor problem. Either way if you are going to attempt to warranty it you would need to remove all mods including the downpipes.

since our cars don't have dip sticks, and there is a range of oil levels that the car will say the oil level is perfectly full, you may not have anything to worry about. Perhaps your cas was on the low side of full and after 5000 miles you lost enough to need to add a quart. When I first got my car, I had to add a quart after just a few thousand mile (it was used with 27k miles). I have now changed the oil myself a few times and teh car has 40k miles and I've never had to add a quart between changes, even after extremely hard driving, like a track day.

I would suggest you just keep an eye on your future oil consumption before jumping to any conclusins.

I don't think the concern here is the oil consumption but more the blue smoke shooting out of the tailpipe.

Yea, the blue smoke and smell of oil is my concern, not the fact of adding a quart every 5k.

my passenger side occasionally puffs out a little smoke when warmed up and sitting idle for a few mins.. I havent taken it into the shop yet, but i think its my turbo seal starting to go.. I'll probably just get RB turbos or another form of upgraded twins once its time to replace them
