Aftermarket mufflers only?
My '07 e90 335i is 100% stock, and I'm looking for a somewhat more aggressive sound -- something on par with the BMW Performance Exhaust. I don't want to mess with any downpipes or eliminating any cats (my car barely passes smog as it is). Are there any aftermarket mufflers that are a simple weld in-place of the stock mufflers that produce a nice sound that's louder than stock but not obnoxious?
Ideally, I'd love to spend a couple hundred bucks on 2 new mufflers (Magnaflow or others), have a muffler shop weld them in, and be done. Not concerned about power gains, just sound. I know it is a completely different car, but I did just the mufflers on my old '93 Mustang 5.0 Cobra years ago, and it sounded great and cost about $200 installed! Not sure why this same concept wouldn't work on the 335? |

I have an e92 with magnaflow mufflers. Sounds great now. Deleting your resonators and swapping mufflers should give you a nice sound, but I really do recommend pairing that with downpipes for the best results.

same here i got an e92 with magnaflow mufflers and the rest is stock. It gives the exhaust a deeper tone and is slightly louder compared to stock. But i want mines to be louder.

delete res or magnaflow is probably your cheapest option, unless u just keep looking on the forums and find a great deal. They pop up every once and awhile

Great info guys...thanks! The resonator delete and Magnaflow (briefcase-style) mufflers seems like the way I should go. I looked at Mr. 5's thread, and I believe Magnaflow muffler, part # 11366 (Stainless Steel, $129 each) or part # 14363 (Polished, $172 each) are the best ones for 335's. The specs on these are:
2.5 in/2.5 in Inlet/Outlet 4" x 9" Oval Body Shape 2.5in Core Size 11in Body Length You can see pictures and specs on the Magnaflow website. Can someone please confirm that buying 2 of these mufflers are the best fit for an '07 e90 335i? Do they weld right in or does the muffler shop have to re-route any of the nearby piping? |
