AT Transmission malfunction! 2AD0

Help!! My car start whining a few days ago after initial driving (3-4 min warm up time) and then after ten min or so the whine would go away. Last night I was driving home and my transmission malfunctioned 5-6 times on the highway I had to pull over and reset it. Then I realized it refused to engage 4th gear. It stopped at 3rd gear and any attempt to shift would lead to the rpm jumping up, missing, and coming back down to third. Code is 2AD0 for CEL. I am also alpina transmission flashed. Wasn't beating the car at all at the time it was malfunctioning. How fokd am I..
and what else can I do in attempt to fix it.

Check the electrical connection at the trans. Unplug and clean it. Also check the fluid level.

Never do this if you havent changed hard-mechanical parts in the transmission. Read ZFs documentation about that before you suggest some SWAG

During the life of 24psi Daily driving did you ever service the transmission ie: Fluid / filter change or solenoid / mechtronic sleeves ?

If not you may want to follow a maintenance plan for the transmission.

The Torque from 24psi probably killed it. Savage my man, you've earned your name.

Does anyone know how much the Auto and Manual transmissions can handle?

A lot depends on how well they are maintained. Manuals break at higher power levels than ATs
High power AT modifications are available [however expensive].

Yeah, but I don't think stock AT can handle the torque from 24 Psi twins on a daily basis.

Resetting the adaptations is not a good idea....not sure why everyone ways says to do this. Unless you have an hour or more and an empty stretch of road that 2 miles long to run the proper relearn procedure......you can cause more harm than good. ZF, xHP, and everyone else I've talked to that knows these transmissions says that resetting the adaptations is a bad idea....unless you are changing international parts (full rebuild).

xhp said you shouldn't reset it even after a fluid change ?

im changing the fluid soon and thinking of NOT resetting adaptations.

Adaptations should not be reset after a fluid change.

If your changing, Solenoids or clutch packs etc then yes you should reset it.

NO!! Xhp, ZF....and everyone that knows these transmissions says to NEVER reset the adaptations unless you start replacing internal hard parts (clutches, etc, etc).

Unless you do a full rebuild......don't touch the adaptations.....period. There is a reason why the dealership never resets them.....

Clutch packs....YES.....solenoids....NO.

I replaced all of my seals, and solenoids....and ZF, xHP, and Errikson Industries all said to NOT reset the adaptations.

Unless you are replacing clutch packs and doing a major rebuild ....don't mess with the adaptations.

Ok, I always thought replacing Solenoids, should reset.

Thanks for the correction. Can you post where they said this?

If you go to the xHP website there is a whole section on adaptations, and why you should never reset them unless you start replacing internals like clutches. Google it.

Also, you can go to the ZF website and email them.....they will tell you the same thing.

Same thing with Errikson......who specializes in rebuilding ZF transmissions.

Honestly, I just don't have time right now to search through emails from months ago and cut/paste their replies. Basically it's this.....don't reset the adaptations.

Did you ever find a solution to this issue? I’m assuming my transmission is toast but I’m still holding out it’s still an electronics issue.

Actually just got the car back from a shop today they said clutch A and D are slipping and recommend that i get the transmission replaced they offered a price of a new one from Germany 13k installed lol.
Looks like im going to be trying to find a used one off of Facebook marketplace and install it myself.
My shop offered to code it if i installed it myself which is pretty nice.
