NE ways, thought I would drop in. I just bought my 09 E90 M3 a couple of months ago and have been loving it. Here are some questions/concerns I have currently:

1) I stored my vehicle for the winter. Would love to hear if you did the same and what steps you took. I pumped up the tires, filled the tank, added stabil, and put a trickle charger on it.
2) Which dealership (Minnetonka vs Motorwerks) do you prefer? Motorwerks is OK and I always got good service at Sears, but now don't know how good Minnetonka is. Would love to get a recommendation, a M3 specific service tech's name would be even better.
3) I have the BBS Gunmetal 18 inch wheels on my car. I am trying to sell those to replace with either the 220 (standard 19) or the 359 (ZCP) wheel. I can't seem to make up my mind as both are good options in their own way. Thoughts/ideas/opinions would be appreciated.

My days of tracking are over (trying to be a responsible Dad ) but I do try my best to show up at C&C. Look forward to seeing you guys over there.
WELCOME TO THE FORUM SIR! I think you will find that we are a pretty good group of guys here.

1) I drive my M in the winter, mostly because I don't drive my car everyday, but luck would have it that I've had to drive everyday this week

2) I would go to Minnetonka for service. I recommend Tim Storms as an SA.

3) I vote for the 220M. Too many people have the competition package wheels IMHO. You could try and convince me to sell you my set so that I get something new!! That said, I do like the ride on the 18" BBS gunmetals. I have these for my winter set.

PS - PICTURES ARE A MUST!

I was thinking about going touchless for the winter until I can hand wash but I am afraid I will get wet like I did in my E46 M3. Any suggestions?
Welcome! Post pictures of your car!

BTW, I think my rough starts were due to low fuel levels. I had the tank more than half full these past couple of days and the car fired up and idled perfectly after spending the entire day out in the cold.

I hate this weather man! It took me three tries to slip slide my way into my garage! I am going to have to contend that an all wheel drive car/SUV might be the ideal ride for this crap. In the past, I've made a case for rear wheel drive with a solid set of winter tires, but these conditions have changed my mind especially for areas with heavier snow.

Since my car is hibernating right now, and I did not get a chance to take photos myself, I am attaching the pictures from when it was sitting at the dealership in Maryland. Enjoy and thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Great looking car! I've always wanted to see what the silver novillo leather looks like in person. Perhaps at a meet sometime when the weather clears up.

Polk audio stuff is good. I am in the market for some decent rear and side channels. Right now my rears are some POSs while the only decent speakers I have are my two front channel EgglestonWorks speakers.

How do you like the Denon receiver? I'm between that and a Pioneer Elite unit.
I was considering Pioneer VSX-1120 as well but decided to go with Denon because i got a great deal on it (picked it up new for ~$550 shipped from ElectronicsExpo.com) and because of Audyssey MultEQ which I believe does a much better job of calibration compared to Pio's MCACC. I've had it installed for a couple of days now and have been extremely impressed with it.

I don't think sound-wise you're probably going to find them much different. It really comes down to price and features. Pio has some nice features such as network connectivity (Internet Radio), bluetooth, web-based front-end etc which the Denon doesn't. Denon has better warranty and an onscreen status indicator for volume and source which is quite nice. I don't have a 3D TV so I can't speak to how well the 3D pass through works on them.

I hope this helps.

Looking at this pic, it appears that you have the facelifted LCI E90, so the OEM blackline taillights you were planning on buying wouldn't really fit on your car, right? Blackline taillights are only available for pre-LCI models as far as i know.

Welcome to the new guys!

Here are my two cents on some questions raised:

1. MTKA or MW? Both are good for service. I've had both put a HPFP in my car and both have changed the oil and done minor warr. work. I use Tim Storms at MTKA; he was way cool to deal with. I think I turned Anvar on to him as well and it looks like other people are using him too (very cool)! Sales at both are so so in my opinion. I tried to get my 335 through MW and the guy laughed at me when I wanted to do ED - he actually asked "Why would you want to do that?" - after that, I swore I'd never buy a car from them again. I WILL buy from Adrian Avilla at South Atlanta BMW - that's where I got my car from and will do it again. No real exp. with MTKA other than a guy was actually pretty cool to me when I was drooling over an AW E92 M3 over the summer.

2. Car wash is Mister Wash - yeah it's soft cloth but it's been great to my car (saph. black). I used the one in Eden Prairie every day when I lived there - even if the car was clean. It's cheap at <$1/day and does a good job. Over three years of using them and my paint is still very good. If I were keeping the car after the lease, I would have it buffed though. I find waxing reg. helps a lot.

3. Storage. I think a good cover, full tank with Stabil is fine with these cars. Battery maint'er a good idea as well (although I'd just disconnect it and call it a day). I personally never stored my 335 but there were plenty of times she sat for a couple weeks on end. I will say this - my next BMW will get a set of winter wheels and tires - how much I drive it will depend on how much longer my winter vehicle lasts.

All that said - I have a pair of black rubber floor mats (BMW) that I'm looking to get rid of and the real deal BMW car cover. I'm not sure if it's for all E9x's or just the coupe but it fits my E92 perfectly. Let me know if any of you guys are interested. I think I paid a couple hundred for it. Still have the box it came in... I'm also thinking that I'm taking the ED stuff out of the car and selling it (why not?). I'm keeping the flashlight but I do have a warning triangle and first aid kit... the tools are staying with the car though.

Nick

I've got dibs on your car cover! Never know when and where it will come in handy. Let me know.

Give me the ED flashlight!

nonsense. rwd is fine for this. One suggestion, add some weight to the trunk. I noticed some tail unsettledness and added two 40 salt bags and it is A LOT better. My buddy drives his 335d all winter too (read 425 ft-lbs) and if he can o it with that torque, so can you. Add the weight. Also, which tires do you have again?
