I know nothing about painting, but I certainly wouldn't agree to finish a job someone else started and expect the customer to be happy with it. But I like the idea of learning and attempting the whole process myself. In fact, when life allows, I do want to try it (not with E91) on some panels and see how much I can mess up. haha I already have equipment for spraying (not a booth though). What scares me though are all the folks spraying 2K isocyanates with no PPE! It's crazy. I'd stick with simple less quality paint job and add a few years of life expectancy. |

Might do this on the E91... it would be a bit more stealth as well, which is a plus when it comes to the biennial smog inspection!

So E90 related...
The past few weeks we've had flooding rains then 7 inches of snow, which has left only the Hummer as the daily vehicle of choice. Monday last week the floods were gone and the snow taken care of, so I decided to fire up the E90 (it was 12 deg. F ambient). Nope, battery had drained after nearly 15 days of sitting. So on Tuesday I go for a quick jump off the Hummer. But the orientation of the Hummer to where I can get closest to the E90's jump terminals, the cables were 6" too short. Backing out, the passenger mirror grabbed the pole of the carport... oops (but it's supposed to fold backwards...) For @StradaRedlands and our discussion about removing mirrors without tools... |

here's a thought - suggest applying this in place of the damaged mirror to create a break-away and perhaps a long nylon tie-wrap through it and a nearby door handle to keep it from hitting the ground (you could win the Makeshift Award of Excellence) https://www.testequipmentdepot.com/g...hoC3VoQAvD_BwE did the same thing to our (new then) 2011 328xi 4 dr that was about a week old....you're correct in stating they do bend backwards - i proved it! |

I did the extended service of the auto box; Fluid, pan, mechatronic sleeve, bridge seal and valve body seals. Cleared adaptations and spent about 40 minutes doing the re-learn. Old pan looks to be dated 2008, so likely never been done. Both cars shifting like new again, yay!
Also ponied up for ProTool master license, monitored fluid temp while filling, so convenient. |

I have the new mirror already; it arrived on Saturday. With the old Hummers you never know when a part will go out of production. I should have bought a new frame when I had the chance... |

Just curious, how are you keeping the air filter in? I would be scared of it falling flat 😳

Paint your cap of choice with black Duplicolor Vinyl & Fabric spray and it'll look OEM! It quite literally matches OEM plastics to a T. The only thing it doesn't hold up to is DEEP (like a knife) scratches and rock chips. I used to use it when I wanted to blackout my xbox 360 controller shells. Looked OEM there too. Hasn't smeared or worn off to this day, including extended (and sweaty) gaming sessions. I now use it for any car plastics I need to match. And will eventually use it for my faded rear deck on my 328 and blackout the headliner + roof switch trim on both

I may have a parasitic draw. I think the radio wakes up a lot. The CD drive is a bit wonky.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I did the charcoal filter + silencer + spectre ''performance'' filter . all in the same time, so the sound change was drastic. I was a fun cheap mod for a winter beater. But lately Ive relocated the filter (yes my E91 winter beater became the summer ) |

It's PIA with the E90 because the fuse panel is located in the glove box. Make sure no lights are on and the modules are sleeping. Last edited by Efthreeoh; 01-30-2024 at 10:49 AM.. |

Decided to quit thinking too much and had my 193s straightened and powder coated. They look great, took them off the car as soon as I drove home and set them aside. Learning right now to be able to ceramic coat them myself as I have all I might need on hand already to do it.
