Winter is coming, I know how to adjust the coolant circle through MHD to make it cooling faster. However, How can I make it slow down the cooling circle through MHD in order not to over cool the engine when outside temp below 32F. Since the CSF radiator is too efficiency for winter use. MHD Tuning

I have found a solution after a lot of work. The CSF radiator is very efficient. The lower 4” of this radiator is a low temperature circuit to cool the transmission. Water passes from the left tank through a slot inside the left corner pfnrhe radiator inside the drain, along he bottom 4” of radiator, To the right side. There is a 5/8” hose on the extreme right hand bottom corner of the radiator which takes water from this circuit and sends it directly to water inlet pipe on the N54. Amazingly it is enough to keep coolant temps at 80c or even less at ambient temperatures of 50f and below. Mine at 65 MPh on a 30 degree night the highest coolant temp observed was 70C. Far too low. Fuel mileage is bad, and the heater doesn’t work.
Here’s the solution. Buy a hose pincher from amazon and put it on the low temperature circuit hose between the radiator and the water pipe. Squeeze the hose down to 1/2 or less of it’s original diameter. Monitor coolant temp in the Kombi under section 7.0. Shoot for 90-100c on The highway. Remove the hose pincher in the summer. You could also install a shutoff valve with hose barbs too. |

I just tape my grilles with masking tape during the winter. Looks funny but who cares...

The hose is supple and it springs back. Put a shutoff valve in it if you wish but you need to restrict water flow though that hose. Running at 160f isn’t good for the car either.

You are so smart. I like the DIY solution. Would you be able to take a photo about the hose you mentioned and also the amazon link you bought?

I do have hot air but it takes about 10 minutes of driving before the air is warm enough. It is on a very rare occasion I get single digit weather here where I live.

My car take longer to warm up with the CSF radiator.
I will occasionally get an error about the thermostat in really cold weather if get stuck low speed driving and it doesn't warm up fast enough.

That is not really maintaining temperature. Is lower than it should be. Here is mine for reference with OEM radiator at bellow -21c which is bellow -6f. Oil temp is at 90c or 195f. That is about same as yours. Imagine what would happen if you are driving at bellow-6f. Your ambient temp shows +15f

So does any one have an answer about what inlets are compatible with the CSF? I thought someone said the silicone MMP are too fat and rub pulleys. Only answer I see is HEXON but they are out of business? If i'm going to put a CSF on would be nice to do inlets while i'm at it as I will have more room with fan and radiator out...

Is anyone using the csf in the Los Angeles area? My radiator seems to have a leak on the driver bottom corner. Which is now causing my car to over heat. Due to it leaking out the coolant. Wanted to see how good it worked out here since this summer gets hot af specially while in traffic
