Pre 2010 builds not MY, which should be most of them if not all, except for the 335is and 1M. Wouldn't the n55 production have started early in 2010?

Even so cast pistons should be fine for power levels currently achievable, cast rods I'd worry about but those remained forged.

its more due to the guys going big power having them pulled and actually looked at. It was assumed that because bmw wasnt bragging about it in their promo info that they must be cast. Now there is a debate whether those garages that pulled the pistons for inspection could tell the difference. However, the guy that pushed over 650whp said he told the shop to build him forged pistons for the build and they said they didnt need too cause they were already forged.
