Fathers E93 misfiring and bogging at low rpms with no misfire codes, decided to take her apart and see what’s going on for myself - found all 6 plugs shot, presumably coils are shot as well, thermostat not working, low battery voltage. So far I’ve replaced the MAF, plugs, and crank position sensor - power is 95% back but still needs coils and a thermostat to get back up to speed. Will re-evaluate battery voltage after a bit of use - she’s been sitting around for too long. Bonus points for the pile of grime and rat doo doo on the block underneath the intake manifold Only 69k miles on it too. This is my reward for visiting on the holidays lol. Drive your cars people!

Continuing the quest for better mpg. Put a full tank of non-ethanol 88 in. I've used it in my Ram 1500 for years with no ill effects in performance, with a 2-3mpg increase.
Went on a quick test drive, didn't notice any loss in power so far. MPG has went up by 5. I forgot the exact average speed before I reset it but it was within 1mph. Currently 27mpg at 31.8mph. Will test on the highway again tomorrow. Oh, and it's currently 10¢ cheaper per gallon than premium too! Working on getting a Maverick Nitro Card to get an extra 10¢ off per gallon.

I'll be taking the same trip at the same speed where I got this number tomorrow. Roughly same weather conditions. Will update.

hows the NVH?? im doing m3 set up too. i only have the diff so far. im considering this, or the eastcoast driveline driveshaft because you can use the stock rubber guibo. or a custom one from a local shop should be much cheaper.. for axles did you go used or new? its gonna be more expensive than i orignally thought lol. being in canada doesnt help |

I bought used axles, brand new they are now like $1676 or somethy crazy like that. You're better off the either buy the entire rear clip which is like $2000-$3000 but comes with everything minus the driveshaft and sell the extra diff IMO. Luckily when I bought this 335i it came with all the parts except for a passenger side axle lol! So when I grenaded my driver side axle I figured it was time to do it. There is a really good M parts seller on ebay I have been going through. He's from NJ. Username: Mpartsww |

Driver axle is usually around $350usd and the passenger can be anywhere from $350-$500usd. I paid $450 for mine. I guess it’s technically not cheaper but it seems a little more ideal to get it all in one but then comes needing stuff for conversions lol. I’d stick with getting two axles some diff bushings and figuring what to do with your choices of driveshafts! I mean shipping would be kinda expensive it would most likely ship at a freight rate no? Also one thing to keep in mind is if you have a manual 335 you will want a rear diff out of a DCT cause the final drive is close to stock. Last edited by Mitchell431; 12-28-2024 at 02:07 AM.. |

Not a big deal maintenance or repair wise, but last Thursday I FINALLY was able to get four of my five cars through Virginia safety inspections. Two of the Bimmers were due this past July 2024 - LOL. The E90 was past due since October 2024. "Drivin' dirty" is what we call it around here and it's a $25 ticket if you get caught. I've just been too busy to take off the time to get to the inspection station. Funny was I took the E90 first, then the Z4 Coupe, then the Z3 Roadster (all of them are black); when I pulled up in the Z3 my inspection guy (I've been going to him for 20+ years now) says, "You have two?" He mistook the Z3 for a Z4; maybe a telltale that BMW got the E86 and E37 designs close enough?

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Yesterday I changed my transfer case fluid, did the calibration through ISTA and added a Powerflex street(purple) bushing insert. Calibration was as easy as it could be with ISTA I was actually surprised. I drove the car around the lot and it felt smooth. Today I took it for another ride and can confirm the driveline is smooth again. No more clunking under 15mph. Feels good to have to not worry about it. Still have sort of a bearing noise but am now wondering if it is tire related. Also adding the bushing insert has not added a ton on NHV into the cabin although I believe it'll get smoother once it "break in".

Wasn't all today but did an oil change, installed some new bumper hardware, fixed driver's headlamp mount, buffed fog lamps, installed new blacked out grill, installed new Valeo headlamps, new sub radiator air guide, new lower splash shield, re-taped some of wiring for R headlight and fixed some areas on the fender liner using JB weld plastic bond (I think I like JB quik better). Also painted my lower bumper inserts but still waiting on new plastic bases to install them. Car looks so fresh with a new set of headlight assemblies.

I finished up aligning and installing my new projector upgrades, these things were an absolute PITA to do and it was a ton of effort to finally get them working with the adaptive headlight function. It was basically a cycle of mount projector in headlight bracket, see where it hits, dremel out, repeat for hours.
I then had to make sure the cutoffs were aligned with each other, I had to drill the holes for the projectors out in order to get them lined up properly, again hours of work making sure they worked properly. They look amazing though and well worth the effort and I'm very happy with the light output (no, they don't blind other people) . Time to install my new angel eyes and close up my headlights! |
