Replaced my transmission filter and fluid last night. It took right about 3.5 hours. I had the underbody panels off from a previous job, so I didn't have that to deal with. Only had to put them back on.
As for the job itself, it was pretty standard. Drain the fluid, remove the pan, put on new pan, pump in fluid(about 2.25 liters), get car up to 115F which is where the temp maxed out, row through the gears holding each gear for 10 seconds, pump in another 2 liters, row through the gears again, pump in another liter making sure I only get a single drip at a time from the fill hole, put fill hole plug in. Only issue I had was getting the fill plug out since it was WAY too tight and I couldn't fit my breaker bar down there. Had to use a little 6 inch ratchet and all of the strength I had. Also had one of the transmission pan bolts snap when I was trying to torque it down. Ended up just tightening everything by feel and left the torque wrench to the side. 7 ft-lbs isn't exactly hard to do. |

The T-27 bolts are more weak. T-40 bolts stronger. I agree on going easy on them as you're only dealing fluid. Also, torque is lower on the plastic pan versus my aluminum pan. It's about how much preload is on the pan's lip that determines how good deal is. I get more preload for a rigid pan lip.

It was the T-40 that broke, oddly enough, albeit one of the old ones. I was able to grab the end with some vise-grips and get it out. Ratchet tight felt solid on all of the bolts and the fill plug so I'm happy.

wrapped my interior in high gloss carbon fibre, first time doing it but it was well worth it. The back back took me about 2 hours but after that i caught on how to be more efficient. Few errors but i am happy with the outcome, as for the actual removal of stuff i was surprised how some of it came out so easy. Unfortunately the air ducts were pretty tricky to get out as their clips of made out of nothing. Yozh helped me with a few steps so thanks to him

the part I was referring to is circled. I call it a dog bone but that might not be real descriptive to some.

Yes, I do have it. It's called a vibration absorber or something like that on realoem. Yozh thinks it's there to keep the bushing from getting twisted but we both aren't certain. Gas cars don't have it but I think other diesels do. I've done some research on the differential bushings and came across the thing. The nut on yours had really rusted.

Did my oil change today. Decided to give Shell Rotella T6 a try considering its $42 for 2 gallons. Been running Amsoil but Rotella is much cheaper and readily available at local stores.

Put my ECU back in my car today after I got back from Denver. Sent it down for the latest tune from the Wizard. I do have winters on, so the power isn't getting to the ground 100%, but damn it feels better.

First one is of the front of the engine bay with the shiny new race pipe to the right, installed in place of the EGR valve body and Second one shows the bypass hose (zip tied to engine hoist point) which sits in the space once occupied by the EGR cooler. Hope that helps. And if you look closely at the first picture, you will note that I REALLY NEED TO REPLACE my vacuum lines. That is the next job in my maintenance schedule.
