Now, should I ban you, or should I let you carry on making yourself and your company look like numpties???

Picking it up Thursday so fingers crossed everything goes OK.

Oh, by the way Mr E90ABC - I forgot to commend you... Good Effort

Just to make it clear for those who aren't quite so clued up -

Mr E90ABC happens to work for Big Motoring World, and is yet another one of their numpty workers who has joined our lovely forum in the vain attempt to post false/fake reviews of his/her company so that they can try and repair their seriously damaged reputation. Which of course is hopeless, as the majority of us know that Big Motoring World are the most DISHONEST, CHEATING, LYING bunch of sales people involved in the world of BMW.

I love you Big Motoring World and your band of idiots

Hi

I thought that you were referring to my vehicle when Carl said that E90abc was dodgy. Seems that I should have read some of the earlier threads.

Exclamation

Park Lane BMW are pricey.
Stephen James BMW in Bromley are b*llox and incompetent.
Stratstone BMW Derby are lame.
Vines BMW Guildford are good.
Sytner Leicester are slow but seem otherwise okay based on minimal interaction.
Specialist Cars BMW Luton do not negotiate, but provide good and organized customer service.
Derek Woodman BMW in Blackpool are a bunch of c*cks.
Barons BMW Farnborough are efficient.
Stratstone BMW Hull are sloppy

How do I know all of this?... we've had 4 BMWs in the family... and as two of us are doctors, we've moved around to different hospitals and have therefore used different stealers.

Coopers Thames Ditton:

Con

Touch arrogant, Cleaned my car when I told them not to (had the car detailed previously) took them 3 goes to sort out a squeaky seat belt (I resolved it myself with some WD40 in the end LOL) Couldn't sort my IDrive rebooting issues out

Pro

They change my whole leather front door card after a known peeling issue with the driver side door handle. Had to wave the BMW Memo at them though
The last accident repair they did after my accident in the ice was very good (new alloy, steering rack and front suspension)

Coopers Cobham

Con

Not a lot really, bar it's completely shite trying to turn right out of the dealership, but hey thats being picky. Servicing can be more than Thames Ditton

Pro

Finally convinced them to update my IDrive after complaining about it rebooting AND the fact a BMW service Bulletin stated that an MP3 playback upgrade can be offered FOC at dealers discretion.

Coopers North Oxford

Con

None!

Pro

Close by where I commute to work. Car gets picked up, have done all repairs and servicing with no issues. Nicer mature staff there very polite. Servicing cheaper

Elms BMW Bedford:

Just got my car back from a set of warranty service items completed, including seal on front fogs, headlight access panel cover replacements on front inner wheel arches and all four door handle replacements due to sticking.

Malcolm Whitton the Service Rep is a joy to deal with and always has a happy smiling face. No problems with servicing and no charges.

Both my wife and I have 320d E90s and this is our 3rd vehicle from Elms and will be going back for replacement vehicles when we have added about 100k miles to each.

Well done Elms.

Menzies Stirling BMW - Review of purchase

Menzies Stirling BMW

Bought a nearly new (2009) ex management 3 Series SE not long ago.

Generally all prices of their cars seem lower for equivalent cars in comparison to other dealers (as of the date of this post, however this could change)

Initial impressions on phone with sales person were good - managed to work out a relatively good starting point for the price of the car and my trade in. Overall throughout the sale, pretty good guy - patient and understanding and fairly knowledgeable. Any deals you do with these guys over the phone or in person however, make sure you back it up in an email immediatley after to confirm what was agreed. You will need to rely on it when memories get rusty and stories start to change. When there was confusion, I was able to make sure the deal was right, but not after a lot of discussion which was frustrating.

Would buy from them again if it weren't for the pushy, arrogant, decieving, conceited, rude and all together disgraceful service received from their finance saleswoman Michelle. Watch her like a hawk and get EVERYTHING in writing, without exception. Every conversation and every nuance of the detail must be noted and reiterated back to this one or she'll twist like a snake and winge to her sales manager who is not customer focused at all.

These clowns don't know contract law, or consumer law - and don't let their big talk or any threats steamroller you.

Will certainly not go back to them again for anything relating to the purchase of another car, however have not tested their service desk yet so I might give them a go and report back.

Stephen James BMW Ruxley - Poor attitude and poor knowledge. Eventually got things sorted out after speaking with service manager but at first they were talking utter sh1te and trying to rip me off.

Always found their parts department to be efficient, although they can be a miserable lot at times.

Barons BMW Farnborough - Generally excellent. Refreshing change to most dealers. Completely different attitude and very reasonable people.

OK information / rant over!
I'll second that. My car was in for a few bits and Carla at Stephen James Blackheath was most helpful in getting things sorted and kept me up to date every step of the way.

Sytners in Solihul: bought my car from them...overall a really good dealership for sales and service....very efficient and friendly staff including the techs I spoke to.
Sytners in Coventry: Service was OK when I had my 3x E46 M3s but was refused a test drive in a E92 M3 (set up by BMW UK) by a really annoying rude salesman which is why I ended up buying my car at Sytner Solihul. I don't go to the Coventry branch at all anymore and wouldn't recommend then to anyone.

Sytner Solihull

Love the service side of things - can’t fault them

Sales - I've tried to buy a car from them on 3 occasions now, every time they offered me pittance for my part ex (the last time I could get more from we buy any car .com) and never followed up on the deal. The last car I bought was from Cotswold in Gloucester (the sales team was excellent!) and they offered over £2.5k for my part ex than Sytner did!

Interestingly my Dad has bought from Sytner Mini in Solihull and he got a great deal

Hi SFP, I'm really sorry that you felt that the staff were rude to you, was there any reason at all for the test drive not to go ahead?

I'm not going to make any excuses for the salesman in this case, hopefully the next time you part exchange we'll be able to offer you a better deal, though I am surprised that our valuation was so far out. I'm glad that you like the servicing though !

I made the initial request for a demo through the BMW website and got a follow up call from a salesman at Sytners Coventry. They had a demo car on site but the salesman refused me a demo unless I was pretty much prepared to commit to buy there and then.
This was in late 2008/early 2009 when BMW dealers were awash with unsold stock (>~80 M3s). I'd been a service customer there for ~ 7 years with 3 E46 M3s, so you would have thought I was the ideal prospect for a sale, but no he simply couldn't be bothered and was rude with it.
After that experience, I tried extremely hard not to buy a car from the Sytner group but in the end Sytners Solihull had the car in the spec I wanted, your man there, Karl did a great job so I bought it. Can't fault Sytners Solihull at all. Sytners Coventry though...grrrr I was so annoyed with them I actually bothered to call up BMW UK and put in a complaint, fat lot of good it did as no one ever got back to me.....and I'm not the only who has had poor experience at the hands of the Coventry sales team.

Dealers like that are so annoying. I bought my car brand-new from Coventry and the sales guy I dealt with was good during the deal but seemed a bit surprised that I was annoyed my new car was covered in tree sap when I went to pick it up....

SFP, Hopefully this person has moved on now as poor salesmen tend to get exposed quickly, that said, if you're able to remember a name from so long ago I will be able to look in to it for you (please PM me).

Ideally this shouldn't be required, but to yourself and indeed any E90post member looking to buy a car, I'd be happy to put you directly in touch with the dealership sales managers, just let me know.

Ian - I hope that this got sorted too!

Dick Lovett Bristol v Westerly Bridgewater

Have used both Dealers.

My experience of DL Bristol

The Good: super efficient, lost of staff (and I mean lots - 3 service advisors, 3 receptionists and at least a dozen sales staff) great contemporary showroom environment, Porsche dealer next door too, drinks bar with waitress!!

The Bad: outrageously expensive (well I suppose they have to pay for the headcount somehow and the showroom must be a massive overhead) e.g. oil service and filter on 335d was £399.

The Ugly: DL washed my car but left added swirl marks on boot not there before......

Westerly BMW

The Good: reasonable value for money for a Dealer, oil service and filter cost £260. Staff appeared to know their stuff.

The Bad: showroom looking tired, lacks facilities (pc terminals, no WiFi etc) car not cleaned but would rather do it (properly) myself, supposed to be a 90 minute service but took 2 hours whilst I waited

The Ugly: none so far

So I wil be sticking with value for money no nonsense servicing at Westerly Bridgwater and let someone else pay for DL swanky showroom and staff.....

DL bristol is my local dealer...and I agree I don't feel they are very cheap, and salesmen have not been very helpful when I was looking for a car, they haven't really try to let me test drive the car I wanted. I ended up buying private.

About service prices, why are all dealers not at the same price? it's scandalous, people doing the job have been training same way, aren't they? so they are doing the same thing, so it should be same price.

Have you ever heard of the concept of overheads?

i.e. Workshop space per sq/foot is considerably more in Park Lane, London than it is in an industrial estate in Sheffield.

Dealers cannot expect to charge the same nationally as there are so many variables, dealer to dealer.

That's not to say they're not all generally expensive though.

I've had experience of a few Sytner garages they all are very rude and arrogant. Make you feel like you shouldn't drive a BMW. I think im going to stop using Sytner as i find other BMW franchises a lot more politer and friendly.
