Thanks E. Will be a while before it gets installed. Won't work on an auto as there is another pipe that cools the auto trans apparently.

Lol these guys are dreaming if they think they can have a rhd 335i sit in the shop for 4 weeks waiting on parts. They arent like working on ye old silvia. That all needed to be done before the car arrived. Good luck to them.

In this case a manual conversion, as SPCGRY will need some upgrades to prevent breaking something in the drive train

First part to arrive was a new CSF radiator (7045)
The stock radiator has a leak and needs replacing so what better excuse to do an upgrade to the CSF

Beautiful piece of kit, well packaged and so much chrome
Shame it will be hidden behind the grills lol

Pics below
Not that this build lacks anything, but a manual conversion will be epic. Great work Socket!

This thread should be required reading for everyone. The transformation of SPCGRY is truly amazing and your dedication to customisation is to be admired. Personally I also love a well formatted and laid out thread so a bold heading and mod count really floats my boat! Haha.

I will be following very closely as I'm sure most of the Internet probably will!

Shiny chrome radiator looks great!

Well week three into the ST build. Some progress with new engine mounts and bits arriving for the install but no significant progress. Hoping to add some pics but nothing has come through yet.... Some basic test fitting means we are going with a bottom mount set up with a 6466

Hopefully pace picks up next week as we get to the half way mark
Please tell me its a 6466 Gen2 dual ball bearing with a 0.84 split pulse housing and a t4 flange 😉

No, depends for application it's used for.
Going to large can lose low end power with no up top gain.

It's bit of an art.

I actually have fuck all idea but I have seen a few graphs that back that statement

I was talking about the .84 housing which is perfect.

Some sizes of 1.09 have shown no gain in the 6-800 range compared to a .84 size.

I think the precision 6466 has a lot of good reviews and logs and dynos to back it up.

A long long time ago they used to put the smaller housings on the back and just put a bigger 'gate on the thing.

You should look into this gearbox configuration before you throw in the manual

4 speed is a shocker for daily driving. It just seems so backwards going to a transmission with 2 less gears from 15 years earlier. Also the aftermarket transmission controller is waaaaay less advanced than the stock TCU and the way it communicates with the DME. Great for a dedicated drag car. Not great for everything else IMO.

Manual transmission is heaps more fun too. If someone really wants to stick with an Auto, I'd wait and see how the transmission goes now that the TCU is tuneable and for more extreme applications, go Nizpro or Propulsive Dynamics.
