It was meant to be only temporary ... That step lasts over 100 000 km .... And then I sold it. Exhaust housing was IWG 12cm. I wanted to try smaller housing then, but I do not knew the right people yet. Today I know that 10, or even 8 would also work fine, even better in fackt. Exhaust manifold was the "first generation". It was very good indeed, welded by the good friend of mine and it also looked great, but two things disturbed me in it. The two middle cylinders and large pipe size. It was a good start anyway, it makes me think differently about what happens inside exhaust manifold. In the same time all the others here prefer beautiful long "snake nest" type exhaust manifolds with long collector. - And they got a pretty good results too ... |

Not sure, that I understood right. I have tried many kind of exhaust manifolds in these cdi`s. Shortly: The shorter it is, the better it rummage. What I have noticed is that turbo must start to spool at least revs between 2000-2500. Otherwise the game is up. So, too big WG turbo is poison. With suitable small one, you get out for it everything it can produce. With too big you get only harm, recently tested today. VNT-turbo is not so precise with the size. |

But useless in cdi. I am going to get +600whp with one holset and very short exhaust manifold from 3,2L MB. Difference between short and long manifold is, that with short manifold holset hx40 makes 1bar boost almost 500rpm lower. |

The real discussion is in the Advanced Mods thread. ... well, it isn't really because I see we are back to the who is better than who BS. Looks like I need to give more info so we can have a better discussion. |

Note unmodified WG on Heather's pic (right side photo, post #320). what is purpose of blue paint on exhaust turbine. It's obviously not going to be there very long.
