Exactly. And it's a bargain for our allies because they can spend way less knowing we Wil be there. We basically protect the interests of the western world.

Gulf 2 was more or a change in operating principles. Prior to 9/11 we were reactive. 9/11 made us proactive. There was apple evidence at the time to say he was trying to make wmds. Turned out incorrect. It would have been a net positive however but Obama pulled out too soon letting isis take over. I don't expect European countries to pony up as many troops as theearly US individually, but combined they should be similar and even combined it's not even close. |

I grew up on Jersey it gets a bad rap because most people only see the parts near NYC and Phili. In those parts I agree. They suck. Most people don't know that most of the land mass in NY and NJ is republican but the urban centers near those cities drag the rest of the state down with them.

As far as I know this is all Jersey is about.

It was the US under Regan that supplied weapons, etc to Iraq during the 8 years of the Iran/Iraq war. Saddam was their best buddy until he invaded Kuwait.

Iraq is a epic level disaster and so is Libya. Killing Gaddafi was a great way to destabilize more of the region and allow yet another breeding ground for terrorists. And we got a kick in the jaw pretty much right after we ousted Gaddafi. That dumb bitch Hilary is still scrambling from the Bengazi attack. Now we are also trying to oust al-Assad, which will be yet another epic level blunder. I say we are VERY good at creating enemies just via our elected leaders (if you can call them that) sheer stupidity. Last edited by Delta0311; 08-13-2015 at 09:24 PM.. |

True. And we also gave him WMDs which he proceeded to use on the Kurds after he used them on the Iranians. Best buddy no. But the enemy of my enemy is my friend kind of relationship.

Iraq is a disaster because we pulled out after we won. Just like Afghanistan in the 90s. Libya the same. We needed to leave stabilizing forces behind like the ones still in Germany and Japan but we pussed out politically. At least Egypt was saved. Another stupid Arab spring Obama and Hillary pushed for like Syria and Libya but the people rose up and threw out Obama Muslim brotherhood and replaced them with the military government again. |

I don't recall us taking their land, and I also don't believe we have taken anyone's resources (although I do think we should take resources of countries we defend...) - unless I'm wrong. I think there was discussion of us taking Iraqi oil to pay for the war, but I don't think that ever happened?

yeah, it was hard to get them to stay in. Not much clenching force. Like one of those craigslist posts for a gently used car, but you can tell it's been abused.
