Ya, I just have a Cobb AP stage 1 aggressive and driving around in D is actually kinda annoying. Made my car feel slower because it shifts at a lower RPM and being in 6th at 40mph feels funny. I'll be adding more mods so I'm sure it will feel better then but I figured the flash was simple so I did it.

Anyone here have an opinion on the difference? The Cobb AP comes with its own cable, so I won't need it for that, and I can't think of anything else I'd use it for...

I just flashed my stock 335xi and I really like both D and S mode. D is very smooth and you use the low end torque. S is smother then before flash but quick. I didn't like to use S before but now I can use it all time if i so like. The two modes really gives you two cars in one! You loose nothing! |

Just had the flash installed and I have GIAC Stage II. My impressions:
D mode: sucks balls. The flash changes gears to quickly and before you know It you are in 6th gear at 35 mph. A ton of posts on this already. S mode: excellent, smooth, and timely shifts which compliments my Stage II perfectly. I will always be in S mode S mode w/paddle shifters: even better but will not use this unless I really need to shift faster and get ahead of someone off the line Not technical but those are my impressions.

Order the $35 cable on eBay and shoot me an email WedgePerformance at gmail dot com and I can help you with the software, setup, and flash. You'll also have everything you need to code as well. For those questioning how much I charge, well I don't. If you appreciate the help and have the means, then donations are acceptable, but from my view not everyone is equal financially and this is about promoting the platform and not something to make big bucks off everyone who wants to enhance their car. So, feel free to contact me. I work from home and I'm on the West Coast so it makes it convent for me to assist those in need of assistance rather than over paying for someone else to do what you can do on your own. Like I said, you'll also have the tools you need to code windows, mirrors, seat belt chimes, key chimes, legal display.... List keeps going. Enjoy |

I've always gotten 21-22mpg, I still get the same with the flash. Just depends on driving style.

Yeah, drove a bit more last night and this morning and it's not as bad as my first impression. I'll more than likely use D mode in the Winter.

Im sure if I had more hwy driving in my daily commute it would result in a higher combined MPG. I think the Alpina D mode really shines in city stop and go traffic in terms of saving gas. -Nick |

so far I have no complaints.. D mode is defiantly more conservative but all you have to do is tap that shifter to the left and conservative goes out the window! Its kinda like a win/win because if you get it flashed drive it for a wile and worse case if you dont like it you can always go back to stock and it only takes about 10 mins! No harm in checking it out |

I had a 300zx Twin Turbo back then. Would take the North bridge off the Island then cut back into Providence on the highway. Six lanes of 150+ at times. Would pass the troopers going so fast that they wouldn't even try to catch us. Office was only a few blocks off the highway on the East side, so I was always in the parking lot before they could get backup. We had potholes in the midwest, big ones that would eat rims. Lucky for me I moved again and have been in Portland OR for the past three years. Not much for potholes here, but we do have some of the worst drivers in the country. In the past two days, I've had people in high speed lanes hit the brakes and come to a complete stop to allow someone to merge into traffic. |
