You know you’re old when … you buy a skateboard, when you shouldn’t (but you get excited, because your son was telling you about his skating exploits). You go skating and have an awesome session … then, 30 feet from the edge of the park, you push and your calf goes “POP”. You end up on the floor. Three weeks later, you finally get to the hospital and they x-ray you, then put you in a raised boot for a month, so the muscles can bind back to your Achilles tendon.

Day one in the boot

Just out of curiosity... but I'm thinking this is a Philadelphia thing.. but did you guys ever hear or play the street game called Freedom..? If so, hit the appreciate button... I'm curious to see if this is just a Philly thing... or maybe it was called something else where you grew up...

But, it was like a Giant game of hide & seek outside... the teams were anywhere from 5 to 10 people on each side. The boundaries were 2 blocks by 2 blocks, and the Capture Zone was a manhole cover at the end of one of the blocks... The object was... the other team had 2 minutes to run and hide within a 2 block radius. Then your team would go out and try to find and tag them.. (no, not tag them like a Dolphin), just had to touch them and count 1,2,3. Then they had to walk back to the manhole cover (Capture Zone) and stay there until one of their teammates ran up, stepped on the manhole cover and Yelled...FREEDOM..!! WITHOUT being tagged before he got there... Then they were allow to run off again.

Man... some of the games we used to make up and play when we were younger... and I have to say, I wouldn't give that up for any video game in the world..

Saw that happen to a guy on the basketball court. His Achilles tendon looked like mush. Immediately told him he needed to go to the ER. He could barely walk. By any chance are you taking any antibiotics?

Which reminds me, you're old if you remember when cars had speedometers that only went to 85 in a vain attempt to get people to drive slower during the 55MPH national speed limit days. My mid-60's Dodge Dart had such a speedometer. Not that it could get anywhere close to 85MPH.
