I just want to avoid some confusion, so please help me out. =]
I want to do ED on an order for my 335i. To my understanding, I will be in a lower price range (than US pricing), but I have to 1) fly over there on my expense and 2)pay for a company to deliver the car back to the states? Does this work out to be out even with US spec pricing? I love the ED idea, I need to go to Europe to see family I havent seen in years, and showing up in a fresh new bimmer would be awesome. I just need someone to explain the price structure to me (literally down to the dollar), thanks. |

youfly on your own expense but you can get a 2 for 1 deal at lufthansa, some people found better prices depending on when/from where they flew in
delivery is part of the price i just about broke even. i consider my ed trip a "free trip" after the raw ed savings.. all you pay for is your plane ticket, gas, lodging, food and whatever else you choose to do bmw pays for deilvery, all associated insurance (road and shipping) and all registration fees etc msrp for my car was about 48k, i got mine for less than 42, flights for myself and my girlfriend were about 2500 and for all lodging, food, gas, and shopping we spent 4200 for our 8 days with the car + 15 more days on train and foot in paris (5 days) and london(10 days staying with my sister in london) with money aside, however, i think my ed experience was priceless be ready for a looong redelivery wait, however and know that there is risk of damages during the trip back but it will eventually get fixed and what not. they are usually pretty good about making things right for you but if you are not the patient type, the redelivery process will drive you crazy. just browse some of the tracking forums here and esp on bimmerfest |

Delivery Date Changes ??
Hello, if somebody knows and can advise I will appreciate. I will be going for wife's X3 pick up this year, and have a confirmed reservation for Nov 28, however for work reasons I had to forward the trip a few days later, I can not arrive Munich on Wednesday 28, until Monday Dec 3rd.
My SA is out for a few weeks and the person in charge is not very cooperative. Does anyone of you knows how flexible this is ?. either changing the delivery date or holding the car for a few days. Thank you for your help

your CA is responsible to arrange that with Euro Department in NJ. you have planty of time to do so. contact your CA to do so for you and keep you posted with progress. you are able to cancel your order no less than one month ( used to be 2 weeks ) proir delivery time so all papers for Customs and insurance will be canceled for that vehicle car. you might lost your deposit but it is posible so pushing forward delivery date should be too. other thing, vehicles are brought in Welt night before delivery so if you or your CA request it on time they will not bring car in Welt earlier than your new pick up date. I did return 07 5 series for customer from vessel in Bremenhaven back to Munich to hold for him for 34 days couse customer want 07 530 i instead 08 535i even if they start production on 08ts all ready. I am in sales and tok me about 5 emails contacts and 4-5 phone calls here in US and I called Munich directly to get that car off truck and off vessel in Bremenhaven, i done it. They hold car in Factory for him additional 34 days with only cost of shipping of $200 to get car back to Munich. if you have any troubles , let me know, send me your first and last name, production # so i can arrange things for you. Best of all to My BMW Drivers. Joy of driving |

It's much easier to push it back rather than forward. They normally give the closest available date to your choices, the only way they will offer earlier ones are if there are cancelations.

TiHo \ Irv, thanks so much for your comments. My SA is an experienced ED specialist, I did my 335 last year with him and it was a breeze, but he had surgery and will be out for a few weeks ,I know he would take care of it with no problem but the lady said "once reservation is confirmed is pretty much set in stone" so I worried. She said she will contact the ED to request the date change, I will be calling her constantly to obtain an update and confirmation. Tiho thanks for the offer to help, I'll contact you in case the lady SA is not able to.
Have a great weekend

My main reason for the question is that with a pickup date of Dec of Jan the temps are 20F-35F. And yeah, I did do a search.. All I heard was that it's illegal to drive on summer tires in the snow over there.
Anyone picked up their cars at end of DEC or any time in JAN? What was the weather like? Gary |

If u searched around (bimmerfest has even more info on ED), you'll find out that ED orders are placed 2-3 months away from the pick up date. Tickets are usually 400 pp on Lufthansa.

Not true. This is why you call Lufthansa. Ticket prices vary upon season. I paid $1300 in peak season.

I calculated the price of an 335i coupe with the following options:
34910 * car 1910 * Navigation 1000 * Sports Package 2320 * Premium Package 455 * Confort Access 1300 * Automatic with paddle shifter ----------------------------------- 41895 total + 775 destination (do I need to add this?) ----------------- 42670 plus whatever profit is reasonable to the CA/dealer. Did I calculate my ED cost correctly (before dealer profit)? Thanks Last edited by garyhgaryh; 10-29-2007 at 09:18 PM.. |
