If the smoothing factor was set to '0' i would agree that the map just needs fine tuning....but those are not the facts.

Those dips are 15-25whp. To me it looks like knock and the factory ecu is pulling timing. Thats why i asked to see a video of the dyno run..... If a/f and boost were also posted it could shed light on what those dips could be. I would also love to see the raw SAE/0 smoothing graphs......

I fully understand that Vishnu is still in development stages of its ecu mapping/customization, maybe Shiv cannot access all the maps that are needed to make a nice smooth curve......

im just surpised no one has talked about these issues....instead ppl would rather post OT crap.

like you said yourself "still in development". This thread was only to show that they hit 400whp. I'm not surprised at all no one has complained about any issues with the map. It's not like this map is going to be released to the public as is

It helps to do work yourself. I bought most of the expensive HKS stuff from a guy in Canada (Reg Riemer) and my mail order Toyota dealer of choice was Jay Marks Toyota in Texas.

$3190 is an amazing price.
Did you tune it yourself? In the past I have spent > $300 for dyno time to get a laughable tune on my Mitsu 3000.
I would also think starting on a NA car and then making it turbo that you would need to do more things like a fuel pump and injectors to get 400hp at the wheels.

Exactly...it was just to show what the capabilities of the car were, not to try and sell an upgraded map, imo.

There are a lot of tuners on the subaru forums that will take a video of the last dyno run. I guess its just not the norm....

A video would give some sort of inclination of what type of events occured during those dips. If the video showed massive amounts of fuel being dumped in the cylinders (you can see the effects of massive amounts of black unburnt fuel coming from the exh.), it would definitely lead to knock/det.

A video would also record the pitch of the engine during the run, it could sound really healthy or it could sound like it was really being pushed...

Well thats neither here nor there, since there is no video....

Thanks for the quick response Shiv. Is it feasible to say that after MUCH testing and R&D that if it is determined the stock drivetrain will hold up, that maybe you will leave the boost on?

Oh darn, I did forget about the Walbro 255l/h fuel pump I put in so add $100 (I paid less than since I got it at wholesale, but that's the going rate now).
I did this with the stock injectors and, yes, I'm probably at the edge.

I pretty much tuned it myself on $50 dyno runs. The AF was good. I wouldn't expect any Joe schmo to be able to do this project for the price I paid.

I'm sure there are other incidental expenses, but I was talking mainly the total on the bolt ons. In anycase, it's pretty close to $3k .

BTW, this is a turbo car to start with. It's not an NA to turbo conversion,
thus the reason why it wasn't a huge bill for me to get that much HP.

If a boost curve was included in the dyno sheet it would be bluntly obvious....with a smoothing factor of 5 they sure are a lot more rounded than they really are.

I find it comical that all im trying to do is help the BMW community and i just get flamed. If i never raised a question, shiv would have never shared the facts. Yes i was wrong about the dips not being det. (mainly because not all the information was given ie boost curves, a/f ratios, SAE unsmoothed dyno data)

But what if it really was det? It probably would have been brushed under the carpet....The "wow a BMW with 400whp bandwagon" people are too busy filling this thread with 17 pages of nonsense.

Am i wrong in asking respectable questions on the posted dyno curve? It seems it would have been better for me not to open my mouth at all.

It is an amazing feat for Shiv to hit 400whp on his dyno with a stock 335....it really makes me think more and more about the n54 engine. Now if he can iron out his curves to produce a more smooth power delivery (which im confident he can, maybe not now but later down in development) i would be completely satisfied. I am not as satisfied with the posted curves, thus my questions.....

Im out like a fat bicth in dodgeball.

Since this is a closed loop system and you are trying to tune it to that, will the V2 have any problems with a BOV then?????
