Thanks - is the F82 the coupe ?

Just don't go and get an xi and then complain it doesn't handle well on the track again....please.....

Look forward to my F30, it will hopefully have all the go of the e90 plus some added maturity shall we say.

Ok, then the F82 will not be in xi guise.

However, Joel can always try to blow the turbo.....

I live by the very simple moto "Add simplicity and remove fluff"; hence my approximate knowledge of things related to offsets and such....

I dont think BMW has any plans for an XI version of the M4.

Now that my XI is gone and replaced by my M3, no complaints The M3 rides like a charm. Just what the doctor ordered.

Not totally on the dark side, there is still one BMW in the household. And must say that the S4 is a pretty nice ride, not an M3 but overall prefer it over my old 335i as a daily/track/family car.

Yes! They're very nice cars and as long as you like it and feel more comfortable driving it that all it counts to be honest, i like the interior on the s4 is nicer than the 335.

surprised that you have a blown crank case seal so early in her racing life... would have expected this to happen later. whats the damage to replace something like that?

is the harmonic damper a common point of failure as well?

Little story! Since i am not driving the 3 too much, I had recently been getting a battery pic light up on the dash. My Canadian Tire trickle charger fixed that in one day, going from below 50% charge to fully charged the next morning. That makes 2 battteries saved so far for me, 4 if I count my neighbor's and my brother's who borrowed it at some point. Oh, I hooked it from the engine bay, no need to go in the trunk....

The S54 has many more serious defects. I'll take this one any day. Vanos issues are the worst, resulting in whole engine rebuilds. The crank seal has been known to go on all BMWs. Also the crank harmonic dampener has been known to split in half, so I'll replace that whilst I'm there.

Crank seal cost? The seal is about $15 with a few hundred in labour. It took a good portion of the morning just to figure out from where it was leaking. The engine bay was covered in oil. Until it could be all clean off, started up and run for a while ....

I hope she lasts a while before she goes kaput. I've already picked out my crate engine LS3 kit/tranny combo, so it's just a question of when ...

If you change the engine and transmission on the M3 is it still and M3?

May as well just get the car that goes with the engine in the crate and swap the seats for racing Recaros.

But then again this is the opinion of the Cardinal of Status Quo.
