Dzenno, every once in a while I get timing drops on Cylinder 2 or 5(5 more often). then timing recovers and rejoins (value wise) the rest of the cylinders. I didn't get those before though. I used to log a lot (same map) and never got those dropouts before. could it be a hardware related issue (wear on some injector for instance)? I'm running S2 sport (92oct). Weather in the NW is cold ![]()

yeah and is almost always cyl 5 or 2. If cyl 1 starts pulling you can be certain all of the rest are pulling as well massively.

![]() do you think it can be a hardware related issue when it's mostly cylinder 5 timing drop and its every once in a while?

than is fine, see dzenno post. just think about piggybacks where only cyl 1 is monitored.

I don't understand one thing: as far as I know, there are only two detonation sensors attached on this engine. How can the ECU independently pull timing on certain cylinders if there are no per-cylinder detonation sensors ?

One is the traditional knock sensors, another is the fuel injectors also function as knock sensors and the DME monitors the CPS for crank acceleration and if something is off it is able to determine which cylinder by comparing crank position and firing order. |

I hooked up a battery charger this morning and went through the process. Probably didn't need the charger, but just to be safe. I never knew there was an easy access positive terminal under the hood! I'd always assumed I'd need to dig into the trunk to get at the battery connectors.
The process went exactly as described, dash lights and nav screen flicker lots of warnings, during both the save/backup and flash process and everything clears up at the end. No hiccups or issues in the process. The simple instructions are 100% clear. I've had a few short trips now, probably 45 minutes of driving. After allowing warm up, I let the car adapt without pushing hard for a while. After three quick trips, and a couple opportunities to pass quickly, I am very impressed. I chose the Stock Throttle, Stage 1, Sport 3.01. I have 93 octane, so I'll switch to the aggressive map soon. I don't think this could be more polished or painless if it were offered by BMW. This fits my needs precisely, real power increase without fuss. Nice job Cobb. I'll post again as I learn more..... |

here's my very short review of the v400 map, it's a combination of stock throttle map and linear throttle (like somewhere in the middle). the power is there when you push it, however it's so butter smooth with normal crusing. it's nice to know this v400 has more power from the previous maps too.
i had the ap since day 1 when they came to bmw scene and i have to say v400 is the best one for me so far. ![]() good job Cobb! |

Thanks for the quick replies after my thermostat issue, the codes p0128 that appeared while running my cobb tune turned out to be a stuck open thermostat. While 2 weeks ago the electric water pump went. BMW went and changed under warranty. So Cobb is getting reinstalled later today.
