What happened to yours? or are you just getting an additional one?
Stay with it.

My story is a bit long. I only have the C6 z06 right now.
Expect a clutch and flywheel order soon.

Exactly what feels like is going on! My VRSF Stepped is preforming very well in peak of summer extreme conditions down here in south Florida and like you said the heat soak recovery is excellent!

How does the VRSF 5" stepped compare to the 7" in terms of IATs, heatsoak recovery, and pressure drop?

My IAT's have yet to tip over 120* after multiple pulls and plenty of heat soak city driving. i am fbo running e85 however even when not running e85 mixture it still does not go over 120*. I am not sure how the 7" preforms but i know its more efficient and can handle upgraded turbos better

Over a stepped 5''? Is there data to back it up? I guess it is a larger heatsink but the frontal face area of the stepped 5'' I would think would make up for some if not most of it.

I guess most people running upgraded frames are also running meth and or E85 so the IC efficiency/size probably doesn't matter as much.

I just started measuring my standard temps (normal driving, little use of the boost) when on I95, as I commute to WPB, on the stock FMIC.

Air temp 82 - 84

At 75mph the IAT is 104
At 80mph the IAT is 102

Once I get off the highway (30 minutes later), 127 and climbing.

Later today I'll try to drive like 22yr old and complete my base line. My 2011 N55, 335i does have the PPK. So i'm expecting the overboost to really bring up the temp.

Like you, I'm planning on the VRSF 5" stepped

My testing was done with a 7". I cannot compare to the stepped 5" since I've never ran one. I need the 7 for flow reasons when upgrading to a single

Yes this is what i have been told that the 7" still out preforms the 5" stepped core so if you are planning on going with a turbo upgrade down the road you will be better off with the 7" as it still has a larger cooling capacity and can handle larger twins or single turbo heat soak better. However the 5" stepped can handle FBO power very easily and does so well. I am more than impressed with the difference the 5" stepped has made for my setup it was the missing link. I believe it really depends on your power goals.

Also don't forget our ridiculous humidity down here really plays a factor in IAT's it could be 85-95+ but the humidity brings it in upwards of 115-120*.

My thoughts exactly. PTF guys are running Cobb stepped IC on their single and so is Tony and their numbers speak for themselves. The dimensions are similar with Cobb having about an extra inch of core.
