Also posted some data here on the EGR beheading thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...33&postcount=7 Yes, OEM intercooler. But an AEM filter with homemade intake (mainly for space savings to fit my catch can). Also, the EGR has been beheaded on the data in this thread and the last link above, but the DPF thread link data had the EGR valve in the stream and there was no observable benefit to power by removing it (but it does completely eliminate post injection events...) because the closed loop system can get all the air it wants and inject all the fuel it wants. I haven't seen any data that supports the idea that having a bigger intercooler would in anyway help my system. Axle, the data here was collected using the Bavarian Technic tool, which has access to more than I can see with my blue tooth OBD dongle setup. So you'll be able to see some good and useful data, but not some of the things in the above graphs.

Thanks again tdi. Good to see what a proper boost graph looks like.
What is called "boost pressure actuator" here is actually the turbine actuator signal that switches airflow from the small turbo to the large turbo right around 3000 rpm. Unfortunately this is incorrectly labeled among every scan tool I have seen so far. I need the wastegate signal and have yet to find a scanner that can read it. Thanks for posting this though. |

If we can find out the PID for the actual and requested boost we should be able to record/plot in Torque. My VCDS shows it as 115 if I remember but that does not work in Torque. I believe Torque wants hexadecimal or something last I looked....

I was looking for anything called "wastegate" and didn't see anything. Sorry.

So is the consensus from this thread that a 428B code can be explained by any one of the below:
1) You have a bad vacuum hose 2) The MAF is bad/dirty 3) Problem with the tune Im getting this code now, trips to reduced power mode at about 80 mph under heavy boost and it happens every time. I dont have a tune so Im pretty sure its not that, hopefully a cleaning of the MAF solves it. |

thread revival, I received the P02CA code when on track this weekend. I seem to have more luck in the rain (maybe cooler temps) but also was able to trigger limp mode again when laying into 4th gear out of a corner into a straight (when i should have been in 3rd) so WOT through about 2.8 to 4 rpm before causing limp mode. did notice that i almost always went into limp mode when in 4th gear going down the straights. any help would be appreciated!

All of my vacuum hoses are new, MAF is new and tune is Malone 2.9. I don't believe that this issue is tune related. I cleaned the boost pressure sensor tonight and the IAT sensor is also new because I broke one of the prongs on the original sensor when removing it. I bought an OE sensor and not a BMW brand sensor so maybe this new IAT sensor is bad and not reading correctly. |

Are you talking about the big, amber engine icon that pops up in the middle of the cluster with an "engine malfunction" message on the NAV screen?

Mc-chip was a plug in tune? If so that explains it... Those plug in boxes fool the rail pressure readings to the dde which can cause confusion in calculations.

I am getting this code with a Malone 2.9 tune. I don't think that it is the tune related and it is something mechanical. I suspect that either my IAT sensor or boost sensor is bad.
Basically, when I go WOT at 80+ mph it will trigger this code and my X5 will go into limp mode until I erase the code. |

My car with JR 2.7(?) does the engine malfunc under moderate to hard fueling in lower RPM range for more than a few seconds when the small water meth nozzle clogs. It's high EGT from over-fueling. Maybe not what's happening to you, but it sounds suspiciously similar. You might consider logging EGT if you don't find something else.

any solution on this? My car has the same problem 428B and 41AA codes, limp mode at high speed when full throttle. (~200km/h) has new vac lines, MAF, vacum checked on idle and while driveing, 2x new Pressure converters, all turbo acuators works and holds vacuum.
New MAP sensor is on its way, but i dont know... I have been to two different tuning companies and had 3 maps tested, all the same error. DPF off, EGR off, Swirl flaps OFF stage 2 |
