Nobody on here can tell a 2 pound difference between tires, guaranteed, unless your racing get the cheaper tire and drive more...Its not like the PSS are light years above the rest, I had PSS before my Bridgestone and I prefer the Bridgestone over the PSS, and the savings of over $500 dollars is an absolute no brainer...I will never buy PSS for the price, not worth it, not even close...

In my case, I went from OEM wheels that were 17" but weighed 27.9 lbs each down to the 18" ARC-8s that weigh 18.45 lbs a piece. Not sure the difference in weight between the OEM Continental RFT 225/45-17 and the Michelin PSS 235/40-18, but we're probably looking at 10 lbs on each corner in total. It made a huge difference in feel at the track for sure.

No its not, I had PSS before and all I can tell is my wallet isn't as light as before...if your street driving how can you tell, the car averages 45mph,its not like your driving at the limit...

Closest I can get you is having driving all 3 of the tires, but none on the D. I have PSS on the Cayman, the S04's on the Z and currently Conti DWS on the Diesel (not DW I know, just tossing it out there)
I do a fair amount of HWY miles and when it comes time to replace likely will stick with a HP A/S tire for longer life. I have the new Pilot AS/3 on the Subaru and am pretty happy with their feel so its a leading candidate. The PSS is a fantastic tire, but when not on sale it hurts the wallet as others have pointed out. The S04 is a notch below overall in grip, but nothing to poo poo and are quite happy on the Z car. The PSS is very compliant for being such a high performance tire. I'd likely be buying the ones that are the best value for the diesel, it is a street car right? ![]() - b |

At the end of the day, it's a street car. With other priorities on the horizon to consider, I'll be snagging the bridgestone s-04's this time around. If I find I'm dissatisfied, it's only 20-30k miles until I swap them out anyways. Thanks for the advice, will report back with a mini review after 1000 miles or so.

I have the S04s on my ZSP 2011 335d and i like them a lot. Wet traction and dry are absolutely great. My only problem is that they are wearing fast. 10/32" new, now at 7/32" after 4.7k miles. I do drive it hard, but I was hoping for longer wear. But they are pretty inexpensive so if the fronts keep doing fine, its a cheap every other summer tire bill.

After ditching the RFTs (27,000 miles) I went with the PSSs (39,000 miles). I replaced the PSSs with Nitto Motivo tires last week because of their 60,000 mile warranty (don't want to buy tires every other year). So far so good.

I had Motivos, mine dry cracked around the sidewalls at 5k, they replaced them for free, I think it was a bad batch, the new tires on my VW TDI are fine...

Just installed Conti DW tires last week. Really like them. Quiet and comfortable yet still very sporting being a max performance summer tire. For ~$650 they are perfect for a my sporting daily commuter.

I replaced my RTF's immediately after I purchased my 335d M sport with Continental ExtremeContact DW from Tire Rack. Have doen that in the past with other BMW's I had that came with RFT's. Conti's are a lot quieter after some miles on them and they grip a lot better that Bridegestone RFT's that were on my car (still have them). Had Bridgestone Potenza RE760's on my 545i sport and loved them too. Might get them next time but they are a tad bit softer on the sidewall and may be slightly cheaper but horrible in the snow. Good luck.

I prefer the Conti or the Bridgestone for the price, PSS are too expensive for street driving, they are awesome, but so are the other 2 brands...

Had Continental rft when I got the car. Wore them and replaced with Bridgestone rft and was not happy. Swapped under warranty for non rft Bridgestones then switched to the Pilot 3's which I have now. Not sure what kind of life I will get out of them, but they stick very well, are fairly quiet, and have a nice ride. I got the heavier load rating in order to get stiffer ride and have been pleased.

i have the PSS on my 18" sport package wheels, and they are awesome. however they are quite pricey in my opinion, and on past cars i have had very good experience with Falken 452(now replaced by 453), so i think i will give the falken 453 a shot on the 335d next.

225/45R-17 Michelin Primacy MXM4 SL
each. $$174.00 car had original conti RFT- ride was garbaje and 2 tires has radial runout which caused an annoying/unacceptable wobble at speed (70mph+) the 225/45R-17 Michelin Primacy MXM4 are smooth & quiete. Car rolls a tad more now in tight turns. Most noticable at high speed lane changes, like at 85mph+, but then again its only a base D. I run 34psi in front, 36psi rear. When pushed hard, tires break lateral traction in a smooth predictable way. I like them, but the price sucks taxes, shiping, mounting = $840 ish ![]() |

S-04 pp installed balanced and aligned (car was pulling to the right just enough to be noticeable). No chance to push them, but pulling out of the cracked potholed parking lot sure felt cushy compared to the rft. So far so good. Full write up to come once I hit 1k miles or so.

My PSS's were less expensive than replacing the tires w/OEM Bridgestone RFT's (or Michelin RFT's for that matter).
The ride is great as is handling and wet handling/braking. I have always made tires a priority and feel I am getting more for my money with PSS than any other brand or type of tire. PL |
