Yeah, Terry has explained the JB2 too me in the past, I just don't remember all the little details. However I do remember that it does and was shown on a dyno to trick air intake temps to read higher as well. BMW's ECU works a bit backward, the higher the Intake Air Temps, the higher the boost is. That's why in colder weather you can get away with running the "H" pill on 91 Octane at lower elevations, and even get away with running the "R" switch on 93 octane in cold weather. In warmer weather or at elevation, it will throw a code using the lower octane with the "H" or "R" switch in the JB2. I remember Terry telling me something about the JB2 using a bit more of the ECU's timing adjustment than the PROcede does because of that. That's the reason the PROcede can run more boost with lower octane gas. Again, I don't get too involved with all the technical details, so I don't remember every detail. Later. |

Pretty much. I think very few people with have problems with the H on 93 regardless of temp. We'll see.

Procede v2 on 535i
Myself and a few others have Procede v2 on 535i. Install is same as 335i. Will say that the electrical on the 535i is much more picky than 335i as we had battery drain warnings on 535i with v1.47. But with the power source change with v2 this has gone away.
Will definitely notice a change with Procede. It's night and day driving with it installed. It's been real fun to press the pedal down. I haven't dyno'd yet and this has been on my mind as I wonder if the hp gains with Procede v2 for me are as advertised and that much greater than Dinan or not. Dinan offers a ECU flash for $2k for the 335i and 535i. Each of the Dinan dynos from the board indicate a consistent 51-52 hp increase as Dinan advertised. The Procede v2 dynos have ranged and largely due to folks having additional mods as well as different boost settings. Dinan is attractive as it's a take it to the dealer, let em flash it, and off you go without worrying about warranty or taking your Procede out when taking the car into the dealer. While there's nothing to tune settings wise and not as powerful as Procede v2, I have to admit the flash it and forget is the nice feature of going with Dinan. But since I already bought the Procede before Dinan was released not much of a decision for me given additional sunk costs. Either way you choose it makes the decision to go for the 535i vs 550i all worth it in the end. That was my decision point as the power difference between 535i vs 550i is nothing like it was when it was 530i vs 545i. |

pds22, thanks for that. Would be cool if any of the guys with tuned 535i would chime in with dyno #'s and/or 1/4 mile times
I agree with you, the 535i definetly is a tremendous value. I was actually looking at an Audi S6 which is around $75k but it looks like even a fairly mildly tuned N54 will smoke it...so I get to save a ton of money and still have a faster car My plan is to grab a new 535i slap one of the tuners/flashes, M Tech body kit on, a suspension kit, and some 19" light weight BBS wheels....I should be good to go. |
