Same here, I keep my cars for a long time and will keep my 335d for a while, so I'm not too concerned about the present resale value as long as I can keep enjoying the car. For me, there is nothing else quite like it on the road.

I wanted to get rid of the car back in January when dealing with CBU, but now that I dealt with the alphabet soup and have Jarek's flash I love the car again. This just gives me an excuse the keep the car, even though my growing family could probably use a larger vehicle.

There will be a following at some point of people that want these cars. There is no other vehicle like it in the USA...at least right now.
My dealer wanted to give me 17,500 trade in for a 2010 with 60k miles. I laughed and walked away. Had they said 20k, we may have talked about an M3. |

Everybody that rides in mine says that they didn't even know these cars existed, and they love it. I think it might have been a bit of a failure in marketing and then in the dealer service network. I knew when they came out that I'd have one.

i have finance payments on mine. the way i look at it, no other car i want gives me luxury and sport in one package at the price i am paying. so after 5 years years of ownership its almost like a free car .
also i hope they dont rush to release Audi RS3 sedan with a manual so i dont get tempted to trade in. |

For those needing to fall back in love with their car, plan a long road trip...there is nothing out there like this car.
I just did 1000 miles to Columbus and back for the Easter Holiday. On the return trip I averaged 39.2 mpg with cruise control locked at 77mph. That's a calculated 630 mile tank. This car is amazing. |

I do love to take it on the road. Trying to decide what to do: keep it or replace it.

That's why I keep reading all the varying opinions on the forums. I have pretty much decided against getting the Range Rover Sport V6TDI when it comes out.

Next week I'm going on a 2700mi road trip to the desert. For the intended topic, my car has been appraised at $16-17k trade in by a few dealerships. It had 70k+ miles.

it used not to be that way until these direct injected engines showed up in North american market. in Europe turbo diesels are expected to have this kind of problems. I am American by choice and have many friends and relatives over there - changing injectors, fuel pumps, water pumps is been the normal course of business for well over 2 decades. of course drop in gasoline price makes the turbo-diesels less attractive too but should not have a big magnitude. most likely the CR verdict hurt the most, there are millions of subscribers and the upper auto market crowd is more likely to keep an eye on CR than the rest.

Real world number: I bought a 2010 in Blue Water Metallic with 74,240, Nav, Premium, Sat radio, comfort access, and xenons for $17,250 from Hendrick BMW in Charleston, SC on February 11, 2015.
I finally got the internal repair for the work done on it. Oil change with DET, battery, windshield repair (it looks new), rear rim repair, cosmetic re-spray of the trunk, brake distance low reset CBS data & programmed control units, left cup holder, installed wheel locks, for a total invoice of $1,942. This list scared the piss out of me after making the purchase and then seeing the woes. Prior work included usual services. A brake fluid change at 50k. SCR done at 3,400, control units (DDE)programmed at 12k. SCR done again at 22.5k (B18 05 12, M57 SCR Components). What's the symptoms of carbon build up and preventative actions?
