Years ago when I had my wry, I had an issue with a rough running motor.
I took it to a local shop really well known for subaru tuning ect. They told me that I needed a new motor....the car just needed a coil. Unreal.

Sounds like a good way for them to source a good low mileage engine.....then have you pay for a newer high mileage one while they make a few grand and stay busy on your dime.
Now they just need to find a wrx that has a bent frame....to match the good low mileage one they took out
I pity the sucker that fall for this.....his/her life will be hard,or well expensive!

I guess I shouldn't generalize...you are correct. There is a pressure differential in the exhaust so there is back pressure. I took a lot of fluid dynamics courses a long time ago so I should have remembered this.

I'm just so used to seeing people talk about back pressure and how you need a certain amount of back pressure or else you'll lose power when that's not the case. In that case, it is exhaust velocity and scavenging they're referring to.

You give them far more credit than I would.

Alrite so it ends up something in the engine broke like a rocker arm and the cost for repair is too high for me. So Im going to have to sell the car at a very low price.

I'm guessing you took it to another shop than the initial one?

N52s don't have rocker arms. I suppose it's not impossible to break one of the finger rollers but I don't know how you'd do that.

Garage List
Under these circumstances, if these garages are saying engine blown up, I would take it back to a BMW dealership. Do you get any dashboard lights?
