i dont know about that, but to each his own. Id rather be able to not have to worry about varying e85 mixes than make a few extra hp from a custom tune. Not to mention you would have to keep getting custom tuned every time you wanted to up your mixture. Ive ran several different mixes in the last few days.

Not so on B. My S2000 had the stock block (unopened 2.0 ltr) record at over 800whp for a long time and still may hold that record, so the 335i isn't the only platform. LOL

Welcome Rice, I'm sure you've seen me on S2ki many times. BTW, I wouldn't get rid of the S if you still have it. The 335i is a fun car but by no means even close to a boosted S. Also, the 335i doesn't have an LSD from factory, which sucks bad. Don't get me wrong, the 335i is fun but for an all out street fighter, stick with the S or do what I did and go ahead and build the S even further and use the 335i for a fun daily with minimal mods. I use the Cobb on mine with an AMS intercooler and with nearly 400whp and 400lbft, it's a fun daily car that's pretty quick.

FYI, the autotuning adjusts based on timing drops made by the DME due to anticipating knock.

It's not black magic.

On the flip side, a flash too aggressive (for the ethanol content) will be very unreliable.

honestly an e70 vs e50 tune won't get you THAT much more power, if you're worried just get a less aggressive tune and sleep well at night

or go too aggressive and deal with timing pulls and map 4. no big deal, but it won't be any fun to drive, and isn't that the point?

or go with something that can adjust accordingly and you dont have to worry about it

The s2000 has a very strong engine. My stock block s2000 makes over 600whp and has over 120,000 miles on it. And it's been turboed since 70,000 miles. No ones builds the s2000 engine at under 700or 800whp. I'm not going to sell the s2000. Im keeping it forever. Im just get I old and I need something bigger and more comfertable and with high class. As for the 335i I plan to keep it as stock appearing and comfertable as possible and I plan to get all the bolt on engine/power mods available. Which does not seem like there's very many.

I'll probably end up swapping turbos too with this car knowing myself. Are there any other stock appearing turbo options out there besides the rb turbos that can make more power?

Edit: I have logs to post and substantiate my claims above about spool for each turbo variations. I have yet to see a large single turbo log hit 27psi by 4000rpm, amazing if yours can. Even the hybrid turbo record by ghost hit 27psi by 4500rpm. Also Fastgti customers brand new record setting dyno with 6466 with the VM kit hits 15psi at 3900rpm and 27 psi at about 4800rpm, is that the same kit you run and same turbo?
3000GTMR has logs, same kit. I will have him chime in. I do have logs of regular RB's I will post. I installed the 1st set of EVOS and they spool quickly.

I don't think anyone answered your dyno tuning questions properly. Yes you can dyno tune these cars but at the same time you have the option of just buying a pre-made map that for the most part does a well job getting everything right depending on your upgrades. The maps are based on different stages and each stage requires a minimum amount of boltons.

For real-time tuning your better off with something like a JB4 as flashing can take some time I believe.

This is all based off of what I've read on here in the 3 days I've been an N54 owner.

And to whomever said this is one of the only platforms you can build 800 on a stock block...you obviously know nothing of supras.

I will not post any recent logs right now because im working on something at the moment, but i do have 2 logs confirming 25psi @ 4116 and 27.5 @ 4324 on a VM top mount 6466. 3rd gear pulls, so i'd expect a little sooner in 4th but not by much. This is done with 93 and meth only, no E85. Ill screen shot or take a picture if i have time later.

I may be able to squeeze a little more out of spool but for all intensive purposes i don't need to. Trying tune to meth at the level i'm at is a PITA but it will be worth it and very eye opening once it hits the rollers next week.

Hi Rice777, I recognise you off Honda Tech as a fellow boosted Honda owner.

The x35i platform is great for achieving a very user firendly, comfortable, fast and refined car. I had to go through the same education process you've just gone through, as the mindset and approach is a little different when it comes to tuning these new breed cars.

The older model N54 twin turbo engines have proven very very tunable and strong (akin to F20C, 1JZ and 2JZ engines).

With the right bolt-ons (getting back to that FBO term) a solid tune and some E85 mix (E40 equivalent or so) you can achieve a solid and reliable 400 whp on stock turbos with big torque and strong mid-range power, something which is very different to a turbo Honda powerband...LOL

The new MHD Flash (ECU software) or JB4 (piggyback) are your best tune options as both cater for a variety of modification stages and fuel types. Cobb's popularity is decreasing as MHD provides similar or better functionality at a lower price, and good community support.

The biggest weakness or weakest link in this platform is fuel supply, which is related to the high pressure fuel pump for the DI system. There are real nice low pressure (normal in-tank) fuel pump setups available from Fuel-It, which adapt Walboro 450 E85 pumps to fit in the stock BMW hanger. You will find many of the cars pushing more than 400whp add high concentration meth injection to supplement fuel flow in order to maintain AFR's and high pressure fuel pump duty cycle

Hope this info helps, good luck with the project

looks good but I see that 15psi is still being hit by about 3900rpm during spool up which is consistent with the other VM turbo log I mentioned so there is definately turbo lag to be had with a single compared to stock turbo 2300rpm, RB (15T hybrids) 3000-3100 rpm and 20T hybrids (stage 2+) 3300-3400rpm

BTW looking forward big time to your dyno results! I love your meth setup and how you go about setting up and tuning your car. Good luck on the dyno!

Yeah, as with any big turbo you'll have that, but considering the circumstances its not bad at all for a 900+hp turbo.

Thanks man, I'm not trying to break most hp WR. It will be something never done before, and it's not about the meth, that's just helping me get there.

Look forward to seeing your results also!

The 6466 is a BAD MF turbo and what my S2000 is currently getting ugraded to. I'll be pushing upwards of 1000 whp with it when the engine gets built by Inline Pro.
