I recommend searching Auto Trader and Ebay Motors and compare the asking price of the cars listed with the asking price of your potential purchase. The nice thing about doing the alphabet deletes and related enhancements on the 335d is that you don't have to do everything all at once. You can start with a catch can and/or EGR block, then at some point add meth injection, while leaving the DPF and other stuff intact until later. You'll have options. If I were purchasing today and buying a non-sport 335d, I'd want to get it for under 20k. I'd be willing to pay more for a 335d sport or an m-sport with desirable options. I'd definately want a clean history, no accidents and service records otherwise I'd want a good discount off the asking price. If there are many cars for sale, that works in your favor, especially if you are patient and prudent. |

I am not looking for a car as reliable as my Acura but just how to make the 335D most reliable it can be. And understand the issues that owners face.
Thanks everybody for your input. |

They're much more manageable if you can strip off the unreliable stuff. |

So you have seen a bunch of injector failures??? I thought the injector 'failures' were just codes being thrown cause of the dde issue. I guess the injectors were falling out of a calibration window in the dde causing a fault. Bmw just threw injectors at the problem not really knowing what the fix was. I'm just curious if this is horse do do, and you have definitely seen your fair share of injector failures? If so then what were the symptoms? |

As long as you realize you are buying a "hobby car" that will need expensive repairs at times, you will be OK. Is it worth it? Not to me anymore but you might be willing to put up with it. Also, at 21K, expect the value will drop 5K, when you drive it off the lot. Good luck!

Tomar10 - the recent post by knownoknow references a shop in Chicago that looks capable of handling the mechanical side of things and the tune they used was from Jarek. That might be a great option if you do pull the trigger on the D.
