Update
Swapped the new OEM (88c) thermostat in and coolant temps are right where they're supposed to be! I'm seeing 190-195*F in town and on the hwy. Temp checked via Carly. |

So if we are running 175 degrees/F time for a new thermostat?
I thought it was abc related. But if 195 is where we need to be id like to replace it as well! |

About 50 miles. Sounds like you are deleted too if below 88C. Presume you changed T/S too if still that high. How long ago/miles ago?

My coolant was at 76c pre swap. I have noticed no mpg change since before swap. I'm not convinced coolant temp correlates to mileage but have remained quiet on this topic. I say this but at some point a threshold temp may become a decreasing mileage factor. I wouldn't want to run too cool for oil temp reasons related to turbo being feed too cool oil.
EDIT: Yes, if your coolant is running high 60's/low 70's, you are in need of a new one. I will not pull the trigger quite as early as last time. I didn't have the benefit of others temps info in terms of slow degradation over time. I'm think ing low 70s will be my jumping point next time around but flexible as I continue to hear about others' experiences. Last edited by BB_cuda; 01-21-2017 at 09:40 AM.. |

I originally reused the flex section of the EGR cooler routing (what's in the pic), but it eventually cracked. Replaced with solid pipe section after that happened.
