How I can check it to be sure that the issue is in the Turbo->DPF connection? Should it smell and smoke on idle? Should be any other visual sights?
I replaced the DPF and SCR recently and changed the all gaskets, I didn't notice any evidence of smoke\leaks... but the smell is still there and it was there before DPF\SCR replacement... Thank you. |

If you still have the SCR/DPF in place, you shouldn't be getting any diesel smell in the cabin.
I would double check your exhaust connections, and since it was there before, maybe your DPF sensor tubes. |

Replacing one of those lines is a real beotch. They would have to have unbolt the turbos for the job. But I'm surprised they are replacing your LP turbo for the leaks in the turbine switchover flap shaft. Ususally, they ignore it and there is even an SIB saying it's normal. Where did you take it? Jessel or AutoWest?

My 2011 had that issue when it was under 30k. It was some gasket at the EGR something majigger.

I don't have my 335d anymore, but I recall that the issue was a rubber DPF pressure sensor line on the passenger side of the engine, about halfway back, right above the exhaust manifold. I replaced it once, and then it came back a few months later. My suspicion is that my EGTs were too high and the excess heat was causing that line to fail.

First it smelled in the cabin then under acceleration it whistled. Found it by all the black soot on the turbo flange. |

Zombie thread for sure. I had a diesel smell too, and can confirm it was the EGR cooler that had cracked by the bellow. Make sure to fix it ASAP, I let mine go for too long and it eventually melted a section of the plastic intake pipe. Don’t be like me.
