Hi,
I have an e90 lci 320d with the Xenons. My rings however are the standard yellowish stock colour. Would these bulbs change that to white? Also when my Xenons come on does that mean I'll have 2 diff colours shining? Thanks |

Hey guys.
I explained to ktv personally how the outer rings function but I'll be happy to explain here too. Basically, the LED pass through fiber optic tubes to get to the outer ring. So they will never be as bright as the inner, as light goes further it gets dimmer - just the nature of physics. However, they should still be fairly bright like the images I posted in the first post. Keep in mind the lights need to be viewed from over 30 feet away, straight on with the vehicle and at the same height as the lights. In a case where you find them extremely dim - they are likely not installed correctly. (Assuming all the LED are lit and bright & you are viewing them at the correct distance and height). If they are put in the wrong orientation, the LED will not meet up with the fiber optic tubes that pass light to the outer ring. ![]() If the LED are all functioning at full power and brightness and the inner rings are bright- then the lights are doing all they can do; leading to the conclusion they may not be installed correctly and the orientation is off - not allowing the light to pass through the fiber optic tube to the outer ring efficiently. Double check your installs and make sure the orientation is correct. If they are installed and off by just a centimeter or even a little less it can potentially affect output. So that means turning them fully into the housing and in the correct orientation. Compare the 3 tabs and orientation of the stock bulbs to the orientation of the LED and make sure they go in the same as the stock bulbs orientation. Also make sure they are full seated up in the housing. If they can jiggle or move around, they are not in the correct orientation and/or fully seated. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me and if possible send pictures of the installs in detail. More importantly verify those LED are oriented correctly with passing light to those fiber optic tubes to the outer rings. ![]() Last edited by Jeff@TopGearSolutions; 05-15-2017 at 02:11 PM.. |

Here are some of my pics. The inner lights are bright. These are a pain to install not by design but because there is literally no space (big hands not recommended) and I have small hands. The further you look at the car the more the rings will be lit (again, BMW design). I am pretty pleased with these and for the price, you can't go wrong. These feel well built. I'll also add a bonus pic of the interior light kit that was a $35 option to upgrade.

Figured I would post a good quality picture of an eye-level head on angle of the output, its a bummer that there is no way to get good outer angel eye coverage due to the design on LCI E90's but I think this is probably the best angel eyes you can buy for them

Appreciate the kind words that these are one of the best you can buy.
However, that pic is way too close. As noted, pictures need to be taken in excess of 30 feet. You will have a good depiction of inner and outer rings as you go further from the vehicle. The angel eyes are designed for oncoming vehicles as DRL, not for pedestrians 3 feet away. ![]() This picture was taken about 50 feet away with an Auto setting on my Phone - nothing fancy. I just bought these beautiful bulbs, but unfortunately my hands just can't find a way to maneuver them into the housing. I'm almost tempted to bring it to a shop to install them if they even can. Do you have any pictures of how the three prongs should be positioned into the housing?

I get the same result. 20ft, looks soso. 50 feet out or how it probably looks in traffic is like Jeff's photo which is fine. Ironically my e90 pre lci set does light up both rings a little better. 1st world problems ;-)

If there are that many people that want us to bring the 160W back we can make it happen, we figured with the price point of the 240W and the output nobody would see any value in a lower output option. |

Yep, I figured that out shortly after my initial message.
Here is a new picture of the 240W ![]() and here is another picture of the same car and just different angle with shadows. If it wasn't obvious these aren't professional pictures, they are taken from a camera phone. Auto setting. You can also see how different angles plays a role in the output and outer rings. For those just checking in, this is the design flaw in the factory lights. No plug and play lights can fix this unfortunately. ![]() |
