Corteco is producing OEM balancers for BMW
so if you want best balancer - get BMW - it will be Corteco with BMW numbers or you can buy Corteco - it will be Corteco with cut BMW numbers ![]()

I know this is a few years old but I wouldn't rule out all aftermarket balancers. When my balancer goes out I'll be replacing it with a Fluidamper with clutched alternator pulley.

I'm just going to stick with the OEM unit, mine's been performing fine for the last few years. I've put 30k on it with absolutely no issues. I know at some point I'll have to replace it again. Chalking it up to normal maintenance.

I wonder if the stock or fai would last longer with the clutched pulley. The fluid dampr needs that to be smooth, and other cars like my last vw TDI had one factory. It just shows how much more the stock damper does without the clutched pulley!

The OE dampener (FAI is identical to the OE design) has rubber damping as well as the viscous fluid like the Fluidampr so it could be argued that with a clutched pulley it would perform the best of any options.
However anything with rubber will fail eventually so that is something to keep in mind. |

Hi, I did a 335d m57 timing chain replacement a couple weeks ago. Be sure to google Crank's how to video on it. Follow it and you'll be fine. Crank is in Bulgaria and has some really good 335d m57 engine repair/rebuild videos posted.
