PayPal is safer than typing your CC info into some random site.

I prefer to use PayPal whenever possible. This way only PayPal has my CC info.

So? I don't see a 1000$+(?) cable there, but buying a 399$ item (if that even matters) works the way I described: cart your dream cable , kick the Pal (better in the groin) and use "Pay with debit or credit card". (A tip: you might need not share your phone number with them. I never do. You can use this unless they really need to phone to verify.)

so I created a PP account, it has several options
link bank
link CC

so, do I "have" to link a card?
So example
I go to vendor, select pay by PP, will it "ask" me for a CC?
or is it done on the Paypal end

or MUST I link a CC in order to pay by paypal/credit card
if that makes sense ?

As soon as you link a cc/bank within PayPal. When u make a transaction from a merchant that uses PayPal. It will direct you to PayPal and it’s done in PayPal’s end. Then it takes you back to the merchant to confirm the order.

I always use the CC, and never any bad experiences w/PP (but almost never a return, and I don't sell). Using your card gives you an additional layer of protection for returns and fraud coverage (if fraud should happen, you aren't on the hook for the whole amount). If your bank acct is compromised, yr money is gone.
