Grand tourers differ from typical sports cars (e.g. Lotus Elise, Porsche 911) in that they are usually larger, heavier (sometimes more than 3,500 lbs), and tend to make less compromise in comfort for the sake of driving ability. For this reason, most have front-mounted engines, which leave more space for the cabin than mid-mounted engines. They also tend to have softer suspensions to provide good ride quality.

You should read the whole page. While I will concede that it is debatable, I've bolded the parts where I feel the 335 doesn't fit the bill. I would consider the 335i to not be a big and heavy car. Not in the sense that a 6 series is. I also don't think a 335i would have the most comfortable and cloud-like suspension. I think they tipped a bit more towards performance than a GT would allow for.

It is purely subjective I suppose, however I will say that a 6 series is MORE of a GT car than a 3 series. A 3 series may qualify by meeting the printed specs but I doubt anyone would describe their 335 as a GT when talking about it. I also tend to think of a GT car as being a bit more pricey and in the upper range of a brands line-up. There are always outliers though.

Lastly, while the list definately does not claim to be complete or inclusive it does list the obvious GT cars and the 6 and 8 series met the bill, the 3 series did not. My own opinion remains that it is not a GT car. Not big or luxurious enough, imo.

I just noticed the list does have the A5 listed. So who knows then. I still wouldn't count the 335.

I did read further down the page... they listed the G35 and the GT-R as GT cars, I think if the G35 qualifies, then the 335 should as well. I suppose we'll just have to agree to leave the issue in a light state of debate.

i agree with this guy. the e92 is not a GT - its got useable back seats. its a sport-luxury coupe. and the e90 is, you guessed it, a sport-luxury sedan. but seriously, who gives a crap...the statement that started this debate, "am [aston martin] is a grand tourer what an idiot for racing you. Good work putting the retard in his place," was ass-backwards in the first place - most lxuxury sport coupes/sedans are idiots for taking on the GT cars they do.
