I have had Xdelete for about a week. I flashed RWD, loved it. Kept it until this passed Saturday when it snowed. Flashed back to AWD, no issues. Tried flashing back to RWD and it the app refused to connect to the car (using iOS and MHD Wifi adapter). Gave me an “error” message every time I tried. I emailed tech and they said disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. No dice.

I was starting to lose hope at this point. Until, I had an idea. I hooked up my Launch scan tool and accessed the VTG module. Read codes and what do you know? “Limp home mode: Activated”.

Cleared faults and bam! Xdelete connected to the car and flashed seamlessly.

Oh, and I have JB4 with MHD BEF 😊 no issues flashing XHP.

Everything written there ^ still applies. Haven't touched it since, haven't felt the need. Which I like as I'm a little nervous flashing and re-flashing. Nice to just set it somewhere you like and leave it alone. Driven through winter and summer conditions at 35% and it's better in all situations.

IMO, 100% worth the small cost even if you only flash it one time. <$200 to make your xdrive feel better and perform better for the rest of it's life? I think so.

I agree the cost is worth it. I am just afraid to be stuck in one mode or the other. Or seen a lot of people have errors or trip into limp mode.

I am in the same boat. Flash backs are a common issue - or they are not and we only hear from people reporting the bad and not as much of the good. I think I've come to the conclusion the app is not perfect in its read/write sequence, but for the price, it's hard to beat. I don't know if component "damage" is cause for concern, rather the inconvenience of potentially having to unplug the battery for a few minutes in a worst case scenario.

That being said, I will most likely give it a go. Does anyone know if there's a way to backup the current configuration files from the drive system in case this app goes haywire? I think that would settle some nerves.

My car currently has no front drive shaft, no front diff, and the axles are taken out except for the stubs inside the hubs.

Zero issues.

Bumping this thread since the old Xdelete thread is not active anymore.

I seem to remember reading in that thread there is an 'upgrade' to the xdrive hardware on e9x vehicles. I wanted to ask if this upgrade came in 2008 or in 2009 with the LCI.

I can dig through realoem for half shaft and differential part numbers, but just wondering if there is a member here who knows of any differences and can describe them?

Were you able to use the stock oil pan or did you have to install one from a RWD?

I kept the stock xi oil pan. There is a passage through it for the right front axle but other than that no issues. If you were really concerned about corrosion you may want to treat it and seal it off but I wasn't that concerned. You'd likely have to be fording small streams to get significant water in there.

What did you do about the stub shaft on the transfer case? I believe it's only a friction fit with nothing retaining it in place.


FYI I flashed xdelete a few years ago and haven't had any need for AWD. Been considering pulling the front diff, front drive shaft, sourcing some cheap axles to use the stub shafts on the front hubs and installing a Mfactory LSD.

Just FYI... on 107k mile 2008 328xi automatic using xDelete to run 100% RWD in spring and summer.

I was recently getting code 54C6 oil wear for transfer case on every start up even after actually changing the oil a year ago and resetting the service and adaptations multiple times. It was annoying to have the warning ding every time on starting.

Using xDelete and flashing back to stock AWD and then again to full RWD, seemed to solve the code from coming back for no reason.

I get the same oil wear code, but only if I pull codes. Never on the dash. I may switch back to 2wd for the spring/summer.

Anyone had any issues installing XHP on Android - my Android table which is a bit old (7.1.1) I use for XHP and MHD regularly will not install xdelete, just says your device is not compatible with this version and so far support has not been great after a bunch of back and forth and screenshots they have asked if I can try it on another device (which I can't) but assume it mostly works on other devices since other people install and use it, so not much of an answer. I thought they answer would be that Android needs to be 10 or above or something like that, but they also don't anywhere on their website say there is any minimum version to run it.

EDIT: a bit more info, I was able to side load the previous version from last fall no issue, but latest version says it isn't compatible even though it shows android 6 or higher, so I think they just messed up something in the current release.

YES - please be careful. Even though their app checks on "compatibility" for the VSG module, it is often incorrect.

I have a 2011 X3, which "Should" have been supported. Flashed it (after prechecks said OK!) and got a full drivetrain error that had to be fixed by eSys.

Fucks wouldn't even give me my money back after acknowledging the error.

But, tbh, it worked well - I only really experienced the issues with CEL and Drivetrain error - not impacting driveability. Just.... massively increased pucker factor when flashing it at work

Since DSC was automagically disabled, I did have SOME fun driving in RWD only

Using Xdelete since two years now. No complains. It drives like a dream.

I track the car during summer (RWD) and ice racing during winter (AWD). I go hard on the differentials, and they take it pretty well.

Got the Xdelete for my 2008 328xi a few months back and set it to 30/70% and I love it. It works great in snow, too. Zero complaints, well worth the minimal investment.
